Happy birthday...

You want to know what the first thing was what I saw when I saw this set?
Well, the second thing as that fingerprint really just caught my eyes immediately ^.^

Kan je raden wat het eerste was wat ik zag toen ik deze set te zien kreeg?
Wel, het tweede want die vingerprint sprong meteen in mijn oog natuurlijk ^.^

That lovely flower inside the baby... I just knew I wanted to go and try to isolate it and use it on it's own.  And with just a little help from a versamark marker I got to this card. You've got to love this set for it's possibilities ^.

De bloem in de baby... ik wist gewoon dat ik wou proberen om het isoleren en op zich te gebruiken. En met wat hulp van een Versamark marker kwam ik uit bij dit kaartje. Heerlijk toch als je meer uit een set kan halen ^.^

So there's this whole new year lying ahead of us. And we are supposed to have these new year's resolutions. But when you are completely honest... how long before you break them? Because a lack of time, a lack of perseverance, a lack of courage, a lack of... ? Or just because it's easier?

En nu ligt er dus een volledig nieuw jaar voor ons. En worden we dan nu niet verondersteld om goede voornemens te maken? Maar als we heel eerlijk zijn... hoe lang duurt het voor je die opnieuw breekt. Omdat de tijd ontbreekt, omdat we te weinig doorzettingsvermogen hebben, omdat de moed ontbreekt, omdat... ? Omdat het gewoon makkelijker is?

Mijn luchtbelletjes zijn gebrand door de verschillende lagen van het papier.

But only those at the bottom are golden..

Maar enkel de onderste zijn met goud gevuld...

Dare to swim

A male card...

In these times where everyone is working hard to get all their Christmas cards done I'm hopping in with...a male card ^.^
Now I know not every male loves skulls but the person I made this one for does, looking at the shirts he wears ^.^  But you can easily replace it with any other image, and by changing the colors and putting a butterfly down, you have a more female mixed media card ^.^

Terwijl iedereen heel hard zijn best doet om de kerstkaarten klaar te krijgen spring ik even binnen met een mannelijke kaart ^.^
Nu weet ik wel dat niet iedere man gek is van doodshoofden, maar de persoon voor wie ik deze kaart maakte is dat wel als ik kijk naar de prints op zijn T-shirts ^.^ Maar je kan natuurlijk het doodshoofd makkelijk vervangen met een andere afdruk, en als je de kleuren verandert en er een vlinder neerzet heb je meteen een vrouwelijkere mixed media kaart ^.^

A little card today...very CAS: just a light wash of color and a beautiful Visible Image stamp. That's all you need to make that special card that makes a big difference for someone who needs that little shoulder to lean on.

Vandaag laat ik een kaartje zien...heel eenvoudig: enkel een lichte wash van kleur en een prachtige tekststempel van Visible Image. Meer heb je niet nodig om een speciaal kaartje te maken waarmee je iemand een riem onder het hart kan steken.

And of course I chose to add a little extra accent. I used the butterflies in the background and added that little shiny...black....shiny butterfly.

En natuurlijk bracht ik een klein accentje aan. Ik gebruikte de vlinderstempels in de achtergrond en bracht een klein blinkend...zwart...blinkend vlindertje aan.

Hope...

Many people are looking forward to Christmas and New Year's eve. And why not, they are supposed to be lovely evenings shared with our loved ones. But sadly enough so many people also miss a lot of people on those days. Because they are (far) away due to obligations, or not being able to get together or even more sadly because they have passed away. And when it's your first Christmas without that loved one...I can tell you that are hard and sad times.

But that doesn't mean we can't think of them, or think of all those special memories that keep them alive inside our heart.

So I made this altered bottle using the beautiful Visible Image stamps...

Veel mensen kijken al hard uit naar Kerst en Nieuwjaar. En waarom ook niet,dat zouden dagen moeten zijn die je doorbrengt met iedereen die je dierbaar zijn. Jammer genoeg zijn er ook heel veel mensen die net op die dagen iemand moeten missen. Omdat ze door verplichtingen vast zitten, omdat ze niet in staat zijn om bij elkaar te geraken of omdat ze jammer genoeg overleden zijn.  En als het jou eerste kerst is zonder die speciale dierbare...ik kan je vertellen dat dat heel hard is.
Dat neemt niet weg dat we niet aan ze denken, of alle dierbare herinneringen kunnen herleven die hen net levend houden diep in ons hart.
Met die gedachte maakte ik deze bewerkte fles met de prachtige stempels van Visible Image...

 I have laid down the stars using golden metal foil... my beloved stars are the brightest on the nights sky after all.

De sterren heb ik aangebracht in gouden metaalfolie... mijn sterren aan de hemel zijn tenslotte de meest blinkende sterren die er zijn.

 And what would we be without some hope. My hope to see them again whenever time want's me to...

En wat zouden we zijn zonder hoop. Mijn hoop dat ik hun ooit toch ergens terug zie als de tijd het mij toelaat...

I also went ahead and made a little card to go with the bottle as these words just say it all. But you can go and just sent it to share a little bit of love with someone of which you know that Christmas will be a hard time this year.

Ik maakte ook deze kaart die er perfect bij hoort door de mooie tekst.  Maar je kan deze tekst perfect maken om gewoon naar iemand te sturen die het op deze dagen moeilijk heeft.

So... what about a Christmas card?  We're already over halfway of October so I really need to start thinking on getting started so today I am...
I took out some of the new Visible Image Christmas sets and made this card that looks like a plain card but from the start of the video you'll see it turned out bigger than my usual cards ^.^

Wat denken jullie van ...een kerstkaart? We zijn al voorbij de helft van oktober dus ik moet echt beginnen nadenken over kerstkaarten maken. Geen betere dag dan vandaag om te starten toch?
Dus nam ik een de nieuwe Visible Image kerstsets en maakte deze kaart die eruit ziet er uit als een gewone kaart maar reeds van in het begin van de film kan je zien dat hij ietsjes anders uitvalt dan mijn gewone kaarten ^.^

Cutting up clear stamps...

When I saw the new released Visible Image 'Family definition' stamps my head went over the top. All those beautiful words just waiting to be used on their own too. So this immediately popped in my head: would I be able to cut them up so stamping just one word became easier? Guess what... ( and I have it in video for you ^.^)

Toen ik de 'Family definition' stempels zag die Visible Image uitbracht werd ik zo enthousiast. Al die mooie woorden die ik gewoon ook helemaal op zich wou gaan stempelen. Dus sprong deze vraag meteen in mijn hoofd: zou ik ze in stukken kunnen snijden zodat stempelen van één enkel woord makkelijker werd?  Raad eens... ( en ik heb het gefilmd voor jullie ^.^) 

Not less than 6 Family definition stamps: Mother - Father - Sister - Brother- Daughter and Son
That means a lot of beautiful words to play with  now they are all cut up ^.^

Er zijn maar liefst zes familie definities: Moeder - Vader - Zus - Broer - Dochter en Zoon. 
Dat zijn een hele hoop mooie woorden om mee aan de slag te gaan nu ze allemaal versneden zijn ^.^

Now in this video I didn't show how I made the background and there's a reason for that. I had this happy accident happening when I started out this project ^.^

In de video laat ik niet zien hoe ik mijn achtergrond maak en daar is een simpele verklaring voor. Dit gebeurde er toevallig toen ik begon met het maken van het originele project ^.^

I think...

Sometimes you start out a project, knowing exactly what you want to create. But then.. you just go a whole other direction and end up with a complete new card or project.
Today was such a day for me. I knew exactly what I needed but then my background decided otherwise ^.^

Soms start je aan een project en weet je precies wat je gaat maken. Om daarna te merken dat je eigenlijk toch een totaal andere richting uitgaat en met een volledig nieuw project eindigt dat totaal niet op het eerste lijkt.
Bij dit project ging het precies zo. Ik wist precies wat ik wou en wat ik ging doen... tot mijn achtergrond anders besliste voor mij ^.^

So had to go and start out all over again for my original card I had in mind. I'm sharing that one this Sunday so keep an eye out ^.^

Dus dan ook maar opnieuw beginnen voor het kaartje dat ik origineel in gedachten had. Dat laat ik jullie zondag zien dus hou het blog en mijn youtube kanaal in de gaten ^.^

Music...

Music...it's a powerful thing. At least it is for me. It can lift me up in a second, but put me down with my two feet back to the ground in less than a second. It can kick my behind in gear or make me stand still and remember...

Muziek, het is een krachtig medium. Tenminste in elk geval voor mij. Het maakt me blij in een seconde maar kan me nog veel sneller terug met mijn twee voeten in de realiteit zetten. Het geeft me een schop onder mijn achterste om aan het werk te gaan, of laat me net stilstaan en herinneren...

The greatest adventure...

Sometimes I look back and see what challenges I already overcame. Some of them seemed unpossible but here I am. Still standing strong and so much wiser. Yes, some (hidden) scars too but I'm proud of some of them as they are proof of some of those challenges I have overcome. And some came out of stupid behavior like riding a bicycle that was to little, near a brick pole... That one gave a visible scar but it holds beautiful memories though ^.^
One thing's for sure, no matter how long it took, eventually I always overcome all those challenges making me the person I'm now. And it makes me curious...what challenges are still waiting?

Soms kijk ik even achterom en dan zie ik heel wat uitdagingen die ik al overwon. Sommige leken onmogelijk maar hier sta ik: sterker en wijzer. En natuurlijk zijn er (verborgen) littekens bijgekomen maar elk litteken laat alleen maar zien wat ik al allemaal overwon en maken me trots. En ik geef het toe, sommige littekens kwamen voort uit dom gedrag zoals op een veel te kleine fiets rijden in de buurt van een stenen paal... Die gaf me een zichtbaar litteken maar er hangen ook mooie herinneringen aan vast ^.^
Eén ding is zeker, het maakt niet uit hoe lang het duurde, uiteindelijk overwon ik alle uitdagingen en werd ik de persoon die ik nu ben. En tuurlijk ben ik nieuwsgierig welke uitdagingen er nog aan komen...

If only we had a crystal ball...

Mochten we een glazen bol hebben...

One design five cards #3...

I needed a birthday card for a friend and this idea that I had in my mind with the new 'Somewhere in time' stamp set  was perfect for it. And after seeing the result I loved the card so much that I decided to make a new 'One design five cards' video. It had been way too long since I made one of these. So get ready because we will be inking a lot of stamps ^.^

Ik had laatst een verjaardagskaart nodig voor een vriendin en het ontwerp dat al een hele tijd in mijn hoofd spookte moest er nu toch uit. En toen ik klaar was vond ik het zo leuk geworden dat ik besloot om er een nieuwe '1 design 5 cards' video van te maken. Dat was trouwens al veel te lang geleden.
