Hope...

You have seen me make so many backgrounds using my watercolors, but all those backgrounds also made me make a lot of new backgrounds with the leftover paint on my plastic sheet. Which will be of no surprise to all of you because (be honest ^.^)  who doesn't have those mop up papers?
But they always end up on the pile, as after all, I'm already creating with the main background I started out with.
But now and then, I take that pile and go through it and today's project is on one of those mop up tags. I had a little bit of blue and purple watercolors left on my plastic sheet and just laid it down on a tag and there we are: the perfect background for today's project.
So I took out the set Random act of kindness and my Inktense pencils as I wanted to color one of the flowers. And I wanted it colored in to match my words so...

Je hebt me al heel wat achtergronden zien maken met mijn aquarelverfjes, maar bij het maken van die achtergronden zorgden er ook voor dat ik een heleboel nieuwe achtergronden maakte met de restjes van de verf op mijn plastieken sheet. En dat klinkt ongetwijfeld heel bekend want ( en laten we vooral eerlijk zijn ^.^) wie heeft er geen enkele mop up achtergrond liggen?
Maar ze eindigen altijd op de stapel, ik ben immers op dat moment creatief bezig met de achtergrond waarmee het allemaal begon.
Maar zo nu en dan, dan neem ik die stapel er toch eens bij en het project van vandaag is een project op zo een mop up tag. Ik had nog wat blauwe en paarse verf op mijn plastieken sheet en drukte het gewoon af op een lege tag. En tada: de perfecte achtergrond voor het project van vandaag.
Ik nam er de set 'Random act of kindness' bij en mijn inktense potloden en kleurde mijn bloem zo in zodat het bij mijn gekozen woord zou passen...

The gaze?  That was just to get my flower to stand out a bit more and it was colored using the same blue watercolor I used in the background, adding in a tiny bit of black of course ^.^

Het stukje verband? Dat is er gewoon aan toegevoegd om ervoor te zorgen dat mijn bloem een beetje los kwam van de achtergrond en werd gewoon met wat van de blauwe aquarelverf gekleurd. Met natuurlijk een klein beetje zwart er bij ^.^

Als ik nu eens kijk naar mijn stapel... ik heb nog steeds een hele hoop projecten om te maken ^.^ Hoe groot is jullie stapel?

Random art of kindness

So proud of you...

We all have our favorites. Favorite food, favorite TV-show, favorite pants, favorite color,... And while going through my creative stuff a while ago I caught myself on the fact that, next to my favorite shape of a circle and line, I really loved the diamond shape too.

Now the circle and line are special to me because they carry a message, the diamond on the other hand... I just love it for no obvious reason. Well at least at this moment. Maybe it might change in time but for now it just makes me happy. 

So for today's project I just knew I wanted to have a play with the diamonds in the De-stressed stamp set.  Does that mean I don't have a message in today's project? No...you know me, I can't stop that little thing inside me that makes me create the way I do. So I also took out a tiny little flower and some gorgeous words...

Enjoy the video as yes, I had my camera rolling. I do apologize for the cracky voice though... I have the honor to host a bug this week ^.^

We hebben allemaal wel onze favorieten. Ons favoriete eten, favoriete TV programma, zelfs een favoriete broek, een favoriete kleur,..  En toen ik een tijdje geleden eens door al mijn hobby spullen ging betrapte ik mezelf er op dat ik, naast mijn favoriete cirkel en lijn, ik eigenlijk ook wel heel gek ben van de ruitvorm.

De cirkel en de lijn hebben voor mij een diepere betekenis en dat maakt ze zo bijzonder, de ruit daarentegen is gewoon een vorm die ik leuk vind zonder enige reden. Wel op dit moment toch, misschien dat dit later nog verandert, nu maakt het me gewoon blij.

Dus voor het project vandaag wou ik gewoon eens terug aan de slag met de ruiten in de De-stressed set. Wil dat zeggen dat ik dan geen kleine boodschap in mijn project heb? Neen, dat 'iets' dat mij laat creëren zoals ik doe kan ik niet gewoon uitschakelen Dus nam ik ook een heel klein bloemeke en een prachtige tekst...

Geniet van de video, want ik had inderdaad de camera terug aan staan. Ik wil me wel verontschuldigen voor mijn gebroken stem. Ik ben even in gevecht met een klein virusje dat niet weg wil ^.^

So... who are you proud of?  And have you taken the chance to let that person actually know how proud you are of him/her?
And even just as important... how proud are you of yourself? And have you taken out the time to tell yourself.
You haven't?  What are you waiting for... it will make a world of difference and make this day special <3

Heb je jezelf al bedacht wie jou nu zo trots maakt? En heb je de kans al genomen om het hem/haar ook echt te vertellen?
Maar net even belangrijk... hoe trots ben je op jezelf? En heb je de tijd al genomen om het tegen jezelf te zeggen?
Neen?  Waar wacht je op... het maakt wel degelijk een verschil en maakt deze dag net dat ietsjes specialer <3

Today I choose...

We all need some peace and calm in our lives. And one way to get that for me is to pull out my watercolors and just start by making a background. Seeing those watercolors move on my papers is the thing that turns a switch in my brains and have me calm in no time.

Finding that time to get away from all the crazy things going on in the world and your daily life is a choice. I know, we often say: I don't have time because I still need to do this and that oh and this too of course. We can keep running, there is enough to do. But why not choose to take some me time? Taking care of yourself should always come before worrying about a lot of less important stuff. and then I'm not talking about being selfish, but really taking CARE of yourself! Think about it, what can be more important than making sure you are okay? Only if you take care of yourself, making sure you are strong (physically but also mentally) will make it able for you to take on other tasks. 

And as a mum I am telling myself right now: you are lying, your kids will always come first. And they most definitely will. But at the same time I do know that I can't be there for the full 100% if i don't take care off myself...

So today I chose... so I can be strong enough to take on what comes my way.

Iedereen heeft nood aan rust in zijn leven. En voor mij is een van de manieren om dat te krijgen, gewoon aan de slag gaan met mijn aquarelverf. Als ik de verf over mijn papier zie gaan draait er meteen een knop om in mijn hoofd en ik word gewoon meteen rustig.
Tijd vinden om die rust te krijgen en even te ontsnappen aan die drukke gekke wereld is een keuze. En ik weet het wel, er is nog zoveel te doen want dit moet klaar en dat ook nog oh en dan hebben we ook nog dat wat moet afgehandeld worden. We kunnen blijven rondrennen, er is altijd wel iets te doen.  Maar waarom kiezen we zo moeilijk om wat me-time in te lassen?
Voor jezelf zorgen zou altijd op de eerste plaats komen. En dan heb ik het niet over egoïstisch zijn maar echt ZORGEN voor jezelf! Denk er eens over na, wat kan er belangrijker zijn dan er voor te zorgen dat je zelf oké bent? Alleen als je zorg draagt voor jezelf, zorgt dat je sterk bent, zowel fysiek als mentaal, kan je ook zorgen voor al die andere zaken die op je af komen.
En als mama bedenk ik me nu wel: neen, mijn kinderen zullen altijd eerst komen. En dat is ook zo, zij zijn mijn nummer één. Maar ik weet ook dat ik er niet voor hun kan zijn als ik mezelf in de put laat duwen...

Turn back the clock...?

If you could go back in time... are there things that you would change?  If anyone asks me that question I know I would immediately answer: YES!  

There are things I regret, there are things that I've let go on way to long, there are things I could have handled differently,...

Yet immediately I also ask myself the question: but what if?  What if I could go back and change things. What effect would that have on my current life?

Als je kon terug gaan in de tijd... zouden er dan dingen zijn die je zou veranderen?  Als iemand mij die vraag stelt dan weet ik dat ik meteen JA antwoord.

Er zijn dingen waar ik spijt van heb, er zijn dingen die ik veel te lang heb laten aanslepen, er zijn dingen die ik anders had kunnen aanpakken...

Maar tegelijkertijd komt ook de vraag naar boven: wat als?  Wat als ik zou terug gaan en dingen zou veranderen? Welk effect zou dat hebben op mijn huidige leven?

Als je er over nadenkt... zou jij terug gaan in de tijd en dingen veranderen?

The two sets of stamps I used to create this tag ( linked underneath) are perfect to put these thoughts down to paper. Yet they are also perfect to be used in a (bullet) journal or on a card or... I think I have to be honest and add them to my favorites list. Hmmm it's becoming a long long list that favorites one ^.^

De twee stempel sets die ik gebruikte om deze tag te maken ( onderaan vermeld) zijn gewoon perfect om deze gedachten neer te zetten op papier. Maar even goed zijn ze perfect om in een (bullet) journal of agenda te gebruiken, of op een kaart of... Ik denk dat ik maar eerlijk moet toegeven dat ik ze gewoon op mijn lijstje van favorieten ga moeten toevoegen.  Hmmm dat wordt eigenlijk best wel een lang lijstje met favorieten ^.^

Crazy rebel...

Crazy rebel or just tranquility...
It was the tiny rose that got me started on todays project as I new I wanted to create a row of them.  and it wasn't that hard to figure out what my focal image would be.
the words... that's where I couldn't decide. As I know some people may think I'm a bit of a crazy rebel for going for a black rose instead of a beautiful bright colored version.  But what can I say. I am me and black gives me peace of mind.
And I did add some color in the background ^.^
How to create that two toned border can all be seen in the video as well as how I colored in my focal image.  Have fun!

Een gekke rebel of gewoon rust en kalmte...
Het was dat kleine roosje dat me op weg zette voor het project van vandaan aangezien ik wist dat ik daarmee een lijn wou vormen.  En dan was het natuurlijk niet moeilijk om mijn hoofd afbeelding te kiezen.
De woorden... daar was het dat ik niet kon kiezen. Aangezien ik weet dat mensen me een gekke rebel zullen vinden omdat ik mijn roos in het zwart in kleurde in plaats van in een of andere mooie heldere felle kleur. Ach wat kan ik zeggen, ik ben wie ik ben, en zwart geeft me gewoon rust.
En ik had al kleur in mijn achtergrond ^.^
Hoe je die twee tonen in kleur krijgt in de rij rozen laat ik zien in de video net zoals hoe ik mijn roos precies heb ingekleurd.  Veel plezier!

That beautiful flower... it was just calling me to color it in and have a play with it. And I just knew what I wanted to do with it. Well I have to admit I have a LOT of ideas for it ^.^ but today I wanted to add it to a little mixed media project.

Die prachtige bloem... die riep gewoon om ingekleurd te worden en ermee aan de slag te gaan. En ik wist meteen wat ik er mee wou doen. Ach, ik moet toegeven dat ik eigenlijk VEEL ideetjes heb ^.^ maar vandaag wou ik het graag aan een mixed media project toevoegen.

So I went and had some fun on a bottle with pastes, gaze and a lot of layers of paint.
And this bottle has 4 sides so I wanted to add something at the back too. So I took out all the new stamp sets and had my brain just go and look for what I wanted to put together. And then I got to this...

Dus nam ik er een fles bij en ging aan de slag met pasta's, verband en heel veel laagjes van verf. 
En deze fles heeft 4 zijdes dus ik wou ook graag aan de achterkant iets gaan doen.  Dus nam ik alle nieuwe stempelsets erbij en liet mijn hoofd gewoon zijn gang gaan om dingen bij elkaar te zoeken.  Om uit te komen bij dit...
Zie wat anderen niet zien...

Kracht...

That word strength is so beautiful.  Such a small word yet so strong... you'll see that one come back ^.^ Who am I kidding... they will all be used on many projects as they are just gorgeous ^.^

Ik ben helemaal weg van het woordje 'strength - sterkte'. Het is zo klein toch zo sterk... je ziet dat ongetwijfeld nog terug komen. You've got to love the Definition sets by Visible Image. They are such versatile sets: use them in original state and ou have a great stamp for birthday cards or Mother/Father day cards or as background stamps or...
But I especially love them because they hold so many words you can also use separately. Or ever thought on combining them and make your own sentiments? I did in today's project and I'm more than happy in sharing how easy it is :-)

Je kan niet anders dan de Definiton sets van Visible Image super vinden.  Het zijn zo'n veelzijdige sets: je kan ze als geheel gebruiken voor een verjaardagskaart of een Vader/Moederdagkaart of als achtergrondstempel of...
Maar waarom ik ze pas echt super vind is dat ze een verzameling zijn van zoveel woorden die je perfect apart kan gebruiken. Of je kan ze zelfs gaan combineren en je eigen zinnen gaan maken voor je project.  Ik ging die kant uit in het project van vandaag en laat je met veel plezier zien hoe makkelijk het is ^.^

Drowning...

Face it... I still love that stampset and the closed eyes especially. They can hold so much of different feelings. From sad, to strong, to calmness to...

When I made this background with a leftover of my paints I immediately knew what I wanted to make. It needed these eyes and... a word.

Now choosing a perfect word is not a problem at all when having the Visible Image stamps at home is it ^.^

So I went for one word from a complete wordstamp ( no surprise there is it ^.^)

Face it... is nog altijd een van mijn favoriete stempelsets en de gesloten ogen dan nog het meeste. Die kunnen zoveel gevoelens vasthouden. Van verdriet, tot kracht, tot rust tot...

Toen ik deze achtergrond maakte met een overschotje van mijn verfjes wist ik meteen dat ik de gesloten ogen hierop wou gaan gebruiken met een tekst.

Gepaste woorden kiezen is nu niet meteen moeilijk als je de Visible Image stempels hebt en ik ging voor één woord uit een volledige tekst ( niet echt een verrassing ik weet het ^.^)

Disguise of a smile

Face it

Define...

Define... you...  Are you you or are you who anyone wants you to be?
That's a question I keep in mind a lot. Why? Because I want to stay true to myself and not feel captured in a box only because some people expect me to be there.
Of course sometimes you adapt to situations and then I'm the more serious Veerle... but the moment I can I'm just my old self among those I love ^.^
But where I keep this question in my head most of the times is in my craft mode. I see so many things in this crafting business and I often ask myself why people just go and jump on the bandwagon of new releases only because they are new and because they feel the need to do it because they want to belong to that group that has all the new stuff.  What is wrong with being authentic and choose your own materials just because you love them and think they can help you create what you want to create. The stuff what helps you to lay down your own story?
And yes, I'm guilty as I have been there too. That is until I discovered watercolors and found Visible Image. It took me some years to find my own style ^.^ And yet, when I ask people what they would like to see me do... they go the complete other direction. And then there is that question again...
So... define...  Have fun with the video ^.^

Omschrijf... jezelf. Ben jij jezelf of ben je eender wie iemand wil dat je bent?
Die vraag springt regelmatig in mijn hoofd. Waarom?  Omdat ik trouw aan mezelf wil blijven en niet in een kastje gezet wil worden omdat mensen me zo willen zien.
Natuurlijk pas je jezelf soms aan in sommige situaties en dan ben ik bijvoorbeeld de meer serieuze Veerle... maar zodra ik kan ben ik terug gewoon mijn oude ik onder bekenden ^.^
Waar die vraag eigenlijk het vaakste naar boven komt is op creatief vlak. Ik zie zo veel in de hobbywereld passeren en ik vraag me vaak af waarom mensen steeds mee springen op die denderende trein en bijvoorbeeld enkel de nieuwste spullen kopen omdat ze bij die groep willen horen die het allerlaatste hebben. Wat is er mis met authentiek zijn en je eigen materiaal kiezen enkel en alleen omdat je ze mooi vindt en vindt dat ze je kunnen helpen om je eigen ding te doen, je eigen verhaal neer te zetten?
En ja hoor, ik reed vroeger ook mee met die trein. Tot het moment dat ik aquarelverf ontdekte en Visible Image. Het heeft een paar jaar geduurd om mijn eigen ding te ontdekken ^.^ En elke keer weer als ik iemand vraag wat ze graag van me zouden willen zien gaan ze een totaal andere kant uit. En dan komt die vraag weer...

You... make your story

You... no one else. It's you who is truly in charge of making your own story.
Yes, you can leave it up to others but... will they write it the way you want it to go? After all, they can't look inside of your head and soul to see what is really going on in there.
And yes, others can come in and try to turn it all upside down. But you are in charge of taking control again and turn everything right back as you want it to be.
Are there things we can't control? Yes, sure. But you decide how to go from there.
You see... you make your story.

Jij... en niemand anders. Enkel jijzelf bent degene die echt instaat voor je eigen verhaal.
Tuurlijk kan je het overlaten aan anderen maar... gaan zij je verhaal schrijven op de manier als jij het wil? Tenslotte kunnen zij niet binnen kijken in je hoofd of hart en zien wat zich daar echt afspeelt.
En tuurlijk kunnen anderen het helemaal op zijn kop zetten. Maar jij bent degene die de controle terug over kan nemen en het netjes terug op de rails kan zetten.
En zijn er dingen waar we geen controle over hebben? Tuurlijk, maar jij bent degene die beslist hoe je van daar uit verder gaat.
Zie je...jij bent degene die jou verhaal schrijft.

So much stronger...

It's only when we are facing hard times that we realize how strong we really are.  Sometimes we think we will break but in the end we only see some cracks and dents but we are still shining, no matter how hard life has hit us...

Het is vaak na moeilijke tijden dat we pas beseffen hoe sterk we eigenlijk zijn. Soms denken we dat we helemaal gebroken worden maar blijven er enkel barsten en deuken over als alles over is, en schijnen we nog even hard als voorheen, ongeacht hoe hard het leven ons aangepakt heeft...

I had a play with some beautiful words and I took the 'Take my hand' stencil to draw my lines. Yes, we tend to forget that you can also very simply use a stencil to draw ^.^
After coloring everything I took some crackle glaze to fill in my red circles...

Ik ging aan de slag met deze mooie woorden van Visible Image en gebruikte het stencil 'Take my hand' om mijn cirkels te tekenen. Ja, soms vergeten we dat we ook heel simpel een stencil kunnen gebruiken om te tekenen.Nadat alles gekleurd was bracht ik wat crackle glaze aan in de rode cirkels...

Don't be afraid of the cracks, they let the light in...

Geen schrik hebben voor de scheurtjes, die zorgen er voor dat er meer licht binnen kan...
