Shine a light...

Today I'm over at the 'Less is more' challenge blog where they challenge you to create clean and simple projects. So no layers, lots of white space and minimal embellishments.  So I think I've got that ^.^

Vandaag ben ik een guest designer op het 'Less is more' challenge blog waar je uitgedaagd wordt om Clean and simple projecten te maken. dus geen extra lagen, veel witruimte en een minimum aan embellishments.  Dat lijkt me geen probleem ^.^

Now for the theme: shine a light... so they suggested a ray of sunlight or some moonlight or...  Now who would I be not to have my own take on the 'Shine a light' right?
Oh and guess who the sponsor is this month... yes... Visible Image so twice the fun or no: triple the fun because I can play with my favorite stamps, keep my white space and have fun on laying down a little message.
Getting curious on my take on it all?  Well I have been filming it all as I am adding some texture on my stamps and I wanted to share those little tricks with you.  Have fun!

Nu voor het thema: schijn een licht op...  Dus stelden ze bijvoorbeeld wat zonnestralen of maanlicht
voor. Maar wie zou ik zijn om er niet mijn eigen draai aan te geven toch?
Ah en weet je wie de sponsor is deze maand? Inderdaad: Visible Image. Dus twee keer zoveel plezier, nou maak dat drie keer want ik mag met mijn favoriete stempels werken, kan mijn geliefde witruimte houden en mag mijn eigen betekenis en verhaal neer leggen.
Benieuwd hoe ik het heb opgevat?  Wel ik heb het allemaal gefilmd want ik breng ook textuur aan op mijn stempels en laat de truukjes zien in mijn video ^.^ Veel plezier!

I always look forward in discovering the words that accompanies new sets that are getting released. And looking at the words that are in the Oz Scarecrow set... how can you not love them.  I love words that get your brains thinking. And look at Mr Scarecrow himself, he's figured it out himself too ^.^

Ik kijk er altijd naar uit om te zien welke woorden er in nieuwe sets komen. En als je kijkt welke dat zijn in de Oz Scarecrow set, hoe kan je dan niet blij zijn?  Ik vind het altijd super om woorden te zien die je laten nadenken. En het lijkt er op dat Mr Scarecrow zelf ook de woorden aan het laten doordringen is.

This was my very first tag I made so my very first play in coloring him in. It also was the first time since a long long time I had been doing some coloring in and I had forgotten how relaxing it was. 
Just some watercolors, some pencils and music.  Be gone world, where there is always something going on. Just me and Mr Scarecrow ^.^

Dit was mijn allereerste tag die ik maakte toen de stempelset hier aankwam. En het was ook de eerste keer sinds tijden dat ik nog eens echt aan het inkleuren ging. En ik was vergeten hoe relaxerend dat is. gewoon wat aquarelverf, een paar potloden en muziek. En weg met die wereld waar er altijd wel iets is dat je bezig houdt.  Enkel ik en Mr Scarecrow ^.^

Now I have been cutting him out on this tag, but that was only because I was still waiting for the dies to arrive over here in Belgium but yes... there are coordinating dies to cut this lovely boy out so no more fussy cutting and that is something to be really happy about ^.^

Ik heb hem helemaal uitgeknipt voor dit project, maar dat was enkel omdat de passende dies nog niet waren aangekomen hier in België maar je leest het goed: er zijn snijmallen om deze lieverd uit te stansen dus geen knipwerk meer en daar kan ik niet anders dan blij mee zijn ^.^

Oz Scarecrow dies

DNA...

Sometimes I have this instant connection with a stamp even though I can't always immediately lay my finger on it why that stamp is calling my name as hard as it is. And that fishbone stamp is one of them.  I like him, like ... a lot... so today is the day I took him out to get inked. 
And while looking through the other Visible Image sets I knew rather fast that the DNA stamp was going to join my little fish. 
Now only to decide what to do with my background... a tiny bit of color and some Japanese papers made perfect sense in my head so I got my camera out and had it rolling for you guys ^.^

Soms heb ik meteen een klik met een stempel, ook al kan ik niet altijd meteen mijn vinger leggen op waarom die nu net zo hard mijn naam roept. En de visgraat stempel is daar eentje van. Ik vidn hem super tof dus vandaag was de dag dat hij inkt zag.
En terwijl ik tussen de andere Visible Image stempels keek wist ik eigenlijk vrij snel dat de DNA stempel er gewoon bij moest.
Toen was het enkel nog beslissen wat ik met de achtergrond wou gaan doen... een beetje kleur en wat Japanse papieren klonk allemaal overduidelijk dus nam ik daarna de camera en liet hem lopen voor jullie ^.^

Fire in the house...

Fire in the house!! Watch out Mr scarecrow because someone is after you... now who could be so wicked?

Brand!! Kijk uit Mr.Scarecrow want iemand heeft het duidelijk op je gemunt... wie zou er zo slecht kunnen zijn?

No surprise that it is the Wicked witch is it?

Nou het is vast geen verrassing dat het de heks is toch?

I know, I know people already have told me I have a twisted mind and I'm not even going to argue with you as I'm perfectly aware of it myself and even more so, I'm perfectly happy with how my mind works ^.^

But be honest, we have to give our beloved witch a bit of fun no?

I took out the stencil 'Dark hearts' to go in my background as I thought it was a perfect match for this scenery too. And  that smear of lipstick in the 'Dare to be different' set is just perfect to ground any of the Oz Characters or the Wonderland Characters.

Ik weet het, ik weet het mensen hebben me al gezegd dat ik een verwrongen geest heb en ik ga daar zelfs niet over discussiëren want ik weet dat gewoon van mezelf, en meer nog, ik heb er absoluut geen problemen mee, ik ben 100% tevreden met hoe mijn geest werkt ^.^

Maar wees eerlijk, we mogen de heks ook wel haar pleziertje gunnen toch?

Ik heb er ook de 'Dark hearts' stencil bij genomen omdat ik hem perfect bij dit tafereel vond passen. En die inkt veeg uit de set 'Dare to be different' is perfect om al je personages op de grond te zetten.

I tried to create some depth in between the two characters too so what I did was diecut my Witch out of one layer of paper, I gave my fireball a second layer and Mr Scarecrow got 3 layers of paper. That way it looks as if Mr Scarecrow is in front of the Witch even better. And it's all so easy to do with those dies.  They cut through the 300 gsm thick watercolor like butter. 

Ik heb geprobeerd om echt de indruk te wekken dat onze Mr Scarecrow voor de heks staat en wat ik daarvoor deed was het volgende: ik sneed mijn heks uit 1 laag papier, mijn vuurbal uit twee laagjes en Mr Scarecrow kreeg drie lagen.  Super makkelijk met de dies die bij de stempels horen. Ze snijden door mijn 300gr dik aquarelpapier als door boter.

Wil je graag met je eigen ogen zien hoe makkelijk de dies door het dikke papier gaan, dat kan want ik heb een mini video van 2 minuten ^.^

Yep, they sure are a musthave those dies when you go for the stamps.

We have been asking for them so long and they are finally here: Visible Image dies.  And They came with a gorgeous set of stamps called the Oz collection ^.^
I love coloring in my stamps and then cut them out to get some depth going in my projects.  You know, glue some gaze behind it or put some metal wire behind or...
And a lot of the times I glued my shape onto a second piece of 300gsm watercolor paper to make it even sturdier as I wanted to be sure that for instance my wings wouldn't fold and crack.  Good idea at the time but when starting to cut them out I often asked myself why the hell I did that ^.^
Well with those dies in the house I don't have to ask myself that question anymore. 1-2-3... 4 layers for my little Tin man today in a nick of time!
Now to show you just how easy it is to cut that thick 300 gsm watercolor paper with those dies I just made this 2 minute quick peak video...

We hebben er achter gevraagd en ze zijn er eindelijk: Visible Image dies. En ze kwamen met een heerlijke set van Oz stempels ^.^
Ik kleur met veel plezier mijn stempels in om ze daarna uit te snijden zodat ik wat diepte in mijn projecten kan krijgen.  Je wet wel, wat verband er achter of wat ijzerdraad of...
En heel vaak kleefde ik mijn stempels eerst nog op een tweede laag van 300 gr. dik aquarelpapier om er zeker van te zijn dat de vleugels van mijn vlinders bvb niet zouden omplooien. Een goed idee op het moment zelf tot ik begin met het snijden, dan heb ik me vaak afgevraagd waarom ik er toch steeds weer aan begon ^.^
Maar nu met de dies in huis hoef ik mezelf die vraag niet meer te stellen. 1-2-3... 4 lagen van 300 gr. aquarelpapier heeft mijn Tin man en dat in geen tijd!
Nu om te laten zien hoe makkelijk de Visible Image dies wel door 300 gr. dik papier snijden heb ik een 2 minuten kort filmpje gemaakt...

Crazy rebel...

Crazy rebel or just tranquility...
It was the tiny rose that got me started on todays project as I new I wanted to create a row of them.  and it wasn't that hard to figure out what my focal image would be.
the words... that's where I couldn't decide. As I know some people may think I'm a bit of a crazy rebel for going for a black rose instead of a beautiful bright colored version.  But what can I say. I am me and black gives me peace of mind.
And I did add some color in the background ^.^
How to create that two toned border can all be seen in the video as well as how I colored in my focal image.  Have fun!

Een gekke rebel of gewoon rust en kalmte...
Het was dat kleine roosje dat me op weg zette voor het project van vandaan aangezien ik wist dat ik daarmee een lijn wou vormen.  En dan was het natuurlijk niet moeilijk om mijn hoofd afbeelding te kiezen.
De woorden... daar was het dat ik niet kon kiezen. Aangezien ik weet dat mensen me een gekke rebel zullen vinden omdat ik mijn roos in het zwart in kleurde in plaats van in een of andere mooie heldere felle kleur. Ach wat kan ik zeggen, ik ben wie ik ben, en zwart geeft me gewoon rust.
En ik had al kleur in mijn achtergrond ^.^
Hoe je die twee tonen in kleur krijgt in de rij rozen laat ik zien in de video net zoals hoe ik mijn roos precies heb ingekleurd.  Veel plezier!

That beautiful flower... it was just calling me to color it in and have a play with it. And I just knew what I wanted to do with it. Well I have to admit I have a LOT of ideas for it ^.^ but today I wanted to add it to a little mixed media project.

Die prachtige bloem... die riep gewoon om ingekleurd te worden en ermee aan de slag te gaan. En ik wist meteen wat ik er mee wou doen. Ach, ik moet toegeven dat ik eigenlijk VEEL ideetjes heb ^.^ maar vandaag wou ik het graag aan een mixed media project toevoegen.

So I went and had some fun on a bottle with pastes, gaze and a lot of layers of paint.
And this bottle has 4 sides so I wanted to add something at the back too. So I took out all the new stamp sets and had my brain just go and look for what I wanted to put together. And then I got to this...

Dus nam ik er een fles bij en ging aan de slag met pasta's, verband en heel veel laagjes van verf. 
En deze fles heeft 4 zijdes dus ik wou ook graag aan de achterkant iets gaan doen.  Dus nam ik alle nieuwe stempelsets erbij en liet mijn hoofd gewoon zijn gang gaan om dingen bij elkaar te zoeken.  Om uit te komen bij dit...
Zie wat anderen niet zien...

Strength...
Kracht...

That word strength is so beautiful.  Such a small word yet so strong... you'll see that one come back ^.^ Who am I kidding... they will all be used on many projects as they are just gorgeous ^.^

Ik ben helemaal weg van het woordje 'strength - sterkte'. Het is zo klein toch zo sterk... je ziet dat ongetwijfeld nog terug komen. En natuurlijk is een van de nieuwe sets al op mijn tafel beland voor deze nieuwe video. Zal waarschijnlijk geen verrassing zijn dat het de vlinderset was. Maar ik kan al verklappen dat de 'Creative Chaos' ook al inkt heeft gezien ^.^
Het woord metamorfose... dat eindigt waarschijnlijk wel vaker op een project en het is gewoon perfect voor de vlinders toch? Veel plezier met de video!
