Immortal...

A new release by Visible Image always sparks so much inspiration. And this new release has me going mixed media direction again. So this thorax... first idea that jumped into my mind: let's cut out all those tiny pieces so we can look through those ribs and then we'll see where it takes me.

I glued two layers of 300gr. watercolor paper onto each other before stamping it and  started cutting. I did regret that decision of two layers while cutting but I really wanted something sturdy so...

Next idea... let me put it on a block so I took out a scrap piece of wood and sanded it down but my thorax was to pale against the plain wood so I took out some paints and inks... until I was happy with the look. 

Next... I feel like burning something ^.^ So I went ahead and burned some holes in my wooden block

Een nieuwe release bij Visible Image is altijd een boost voor de inspiratie. En deze nieuwe release brengt me terug wat richting mixed media. Deze stempel van de ribbenkast... het eerste idee dat in mijn hoofd sprong: laat ik al die kleine stukjes van tussen de ribben wegsnijden zodat we er door kunnen kijken en dan zien we wel weer verder. 

Dus kleefde ik twee lagen van 300gr. papier op elkaar voor k hem stempelde en ging aan het snijden.  Ik wist dat ik spijt ging krijgen van die twee lagen papier maar ik wou mijn ribbenkast stevig dus...

Volgend idee... laat ik hem op een houten blok verwerken dus nam ik een restje hout en ging aan het schuren maar mijn ribbenkast was toch wat te bleek op het hout dus nam ik er wat verf en inkt bij.

En dan... had ik echt zin om iets te branden dus deed ik dat toch gewoon? Hier een putje en daar nog eentje en...

And of course I went ahead and burned the piece of paper where I had stamped my word on...

En natuurlijk moest dat papiertje waarop ik mijn woord had gestempeld er ook aan geloven...

My idea of adding some metal wire didn't fit my color scheme anymore so I dived into the box of rusted stuff and found these rusted nails... and one of them had this bigger top... so maybe I should just hit it right through my thorax on the place where the heart should be? 

Ik had ondertussen het idee om er metaaldraad bij te nemen maar dat heb ik weg gezet, dat paste nu niet meer bij mijn kleurenschema dus dook ik in mijn doos met geroeste spulletjes en vond een paar roeste nagels. Eentje had een grotere kop... misschien moest ik die maar gewoon door mijn ribbenkast slaan, net op de plaats waar het hart zat?

And those other two nails were perfect to hold my paper.

En de andere twee nagels waren perfect om mijn tekst vast te zetten.

I loved making this one, I even have some more of those scraps of wooden blocks. I feel some more ideas coming so you might see those appear over here in the near future ^.^

Ik heb zo genoten bij het maken van dit project, ik heb zelfs nog een paar van die restjes hout liggen. Ik denk dus dat het wel eens zou kunnen dat er nog een paar in een project verschijnen in de nabije toekomst ^.^

If...

If I could turn back time... 

I'd find you sooner and love you longer

Today I have this CAS tag but one with a special meaning to me.  When you look at the 'Have I told you set'... what is the first thing you think off? I guess you are thinking lovers right now ^.^
But for me today... the words I've put on the tag have a whole other meaning.  You know, I lost a beautiful friend. In a minimal time frame she was taken away from so many people who loved her for being her beautiful self leaving us speechless, not knowing how that could ever have happened.
And it is at times like that, that you realize... if only. If I could turn back time...


Vandaag heb ik een CAS tag maar wel eentje met een speciale lading voor mij persoonlijk.  Als je naar de stempel set 'Have I told you' kijkt... wat is het eerste waar je aan denkt? En ik denk dat ik wel kan raden dat dat Valentijn of verliefde mensen zijn ^.^
Maar voor mij hebben de woorden die ik gebruikte wel een hele andere mening vandaag. Ik verloor een prachtvriendin. In een mum van tijd werd ze weg gerukt van zo veel mensen die haar zo graag hadden omwille van de prachtige persoon die ze was. En we bleven gewoon sprakeloos achter, niet wetende hoe dit ooit zomaar had kunnen gebeuren.
Het is in tijden zoals dit dat je jezelf realiseert.. als ik kon.  Als ik de tijd kon terug draaien...

Now she will never be forgotten, that just wouldn't be possible. But I did feel the need to just lay down some of those feelings. And I did it in my own way, using these particular stamps and a hint of pink.

Ze zal nooit vergeten worden, dat is gewoon onmogelijk. Maar ik wou wel een deel van die gevoelens neerzetten en ik deed dat op mijn eigen manier, met deze specifieke stempels en een roze tint.

I always have so much fun in bringing stamps together that somehow belong to be together either when they are in different sets. And today it's the inksplat from the 'Organics' set and a sentiment from the 'Voices in your head' set...

Ik vind het altijd super om stempels bij elkaar te brengen die volgens mij gewoon bij elkaar horen, ook al zitten ze in een andere set. En vandaag is dat de inktvlek die in de 'Organics' set zit en een tekst uit de 'Voices in your head' set...

The inksplat has a tiny line which had me going direction of making a square using 4 prints of the splat.
So to make this card you start by measuring the size of your sentiment to know where you need your splatters to be stamped. Once those are on your paper, mask of the square in between and blend in some ink. And then you are ready to go and stamp your sentiment ^.^
But I also wanted to have some fun with my favorite color combo... red and black. Just perfect for the words and that definitely for that splatter ^.^

De inktvlek heeft een klein lijntje en dat zorgde ervoor dat ik aan een rechthoek  dacht.  
Om dit kaartje te maken start je eigenlijk met meten hoe groot je sentiment is en hoeveel plaats je dus gaat moeten open laten als je de vlekken gaat stempelen. Eens je dat hebt gedaan, mask je de rechthoek af waarbinnen je een zacht laagje inkt kan blenden. En dan ben je al klaar om je woorden te gaan stempelen.
Maar ik wou ook heel graag een kaart maken met mijn favoriete kleuren combinatie zwart en rood. Die vlek vraagt toch om rood niet ^.^

To give my splatter that tiny bit more I added some shimmer by using my Zig Wink of Stella marker...

Om mijn inktvlek net dat kleine beetje extra te geven bracht ik een klein beetje shimmer aan met mijn Zig Wink of Stella marker...

My most favorite words from visible Image? I don't have to think very hard on that... I think because there are many beautiful words ^.^ But I think I can say the words in set 'Learn to fly again' are my favorite. So today I did want to go and have a play with them.  And to start out, I needed a very soft background for my words, something that reminded me of the wind. So I took out the Fibres stencil and very softly blended some ink through it.

Mijn absolute favoriete woorden bij Visible Image? Ik denk dat ik daar niet echt aan twijfel... denk ik... want er zijn natuurlijk zoveel mooie woorden ^.^ Maar ik kan zeggen dat de woorden in de 'Learn to fly' set echt wel mijn favoriet zijn. Dus vandaag wou ik daar ook mee aan de slag. En ik wou het gaan combineren met iets dat me aan de wind deed denken dus ik nam er ook het Fibres stencil bij waar ik een heel zacht laagje inkt door blendde.

I marked where I wanted my words to go on a bigger piece of white cardstock and I could go and stamp some of the birds on the left side, and one lonely bird was placed on the right side.

Ik heb aangegeven waar ik mijn woorden verhoogd wou gaan aanbrengen zodat ik zonder problemen enkele vogels aan de linker kant van mijn kaart kon stempelen en één vogel aan de rechterkant kon stempelen.

And that one bird, I wanted him to stand out a tiny bit, not to much, so I gave him a coat using my wink of Stella brush.

En die ene vogel, die wou ik net dat beetje extra geven. Daarom kreeg hij een laagje met mijn Wink of Stella pen.

We all have some scars on our wings, and some of us actually have broken wings.  But we have to learn to fly again... we really do. And I know that sometimes that is incredible hard to learn, but I sure hope it doesn't feel like impossible to any of you.

We hebben allemaal wel onze littekens op onze vleugels, en sommigen zullen ook gebroken vleugels hebben. Maar we moeten uiteindelijk allemaal opnieuw leren vliegen... dat moeten we echt. En ik weet dat dit soms ongelofelijk moeilijk is, maar ik hoop uit de grond van mijn hart dat het voor niemand onmogelijk lijkt.

Time...

How little can make you happy when creating?  One layer, two... nine? I think it's already known that I'm not the girl of many layers. I'm also not the girl of loads of color or bright colors.  So yes, today I'm sharing yet another piece with loads of white, greys and blacks and just one pop of color. But Visible Image their stamps and stencils are strong enough to hold as little layers or colors and still stand out above loads of other stamps I have here at home.

So what did I put on my table?  Yep, last week Mr Bone Jangles and today this little brother came out to play. Well his little brothers and sisters I think ^.^

Met hoe weinig kan je al gelukkig zijn bij het creeëren. Met één laag, met twee,... met negen? Ik denk dat het wel veilig is om te stellen dat ik niet iemand ben die voor de negen lagen gaat. Ik ben ook niet degene die veel kleur gebruikt of voor de felle kleuren gaat. Dus ja, ik laat vandaag terug een pagina zien met veel wit, grijs en zwart en één kleur om een accent aan te brengen.  Maar Visible Image hun stempels en stencils hebben vaak niet meer nodig dan die paar laagjes en dat klein beetje kleur om nog steeds boven veel stempels uit te steken die ik hier thuis heb.

Dus wat had ik op mijn tafel liggen? Yep, vorige week Mr. Bone Jangles en vandaag kwam zijn kleine broer spelen. Wel oke, zijn kleine broers en zussen denk ik ^.^

And then some greys, black and that one pop of red that I love so much in combination with my greys and blacks ^.^ And of course words, the perfect words for my image <3 

En dan natuurlijk wat grijs, zwart en die ene hint rood die ik zo graag combineer bij mijn favorieten kleuren. En woorden, de perfecte woorden voor mijn project <3 

How it was made?  

You start by masking of the shape of a heart. Not hard at all to make your mask as you can just go and trace the heart using the stencil. 

Then I layed down a layer of grey watercolor... can't go without my watercolors can I ^.^

Then remove the mask and lay down your stencil to brush on a thin layer of grey which will have your stencil appear in the background.  Gradually built up on the black the closer you get to your heart.

You then color in your heart in red... and finish it off with some glossy accents before you put down the words...

Hoe het gemaakt werd?
Je begint met het masken van een hart. En een mask maken is niet zo moeilijk met het stencil, gewoon een hart omlijnen en uitsnijden.
Daarna legde ik een laag grijze aquarelverf neer... die horen er bij toch?
Daarna haal je het masker weg en leg je het stencil neer om een dun laagje grijs door je stencil te blenden zodat je stencil naar voren komt. Hoe dichter je bij je hart komt, hoe meer zwart je neerlegt.
En daarna kleur je je hart in met rood, om het af te werken met een laagje glossy accents, en daarna heb je enkel nog de woorden nodig...

I have always have had a weak spot for this stamps and I think it's because I do have some CD's here at home that have this sticker.  There are some curse words in there (woops ^.^) but it feels so good to just sing them out loud.
But we have to be honest, don't we all sometimes let some of those words slip out? And to be even more honest... it does feel good to go ahead and just throw them out no?
I've read somewhere that cursing lowers the stress but also it relieves pain. I sure know it helps when my toe meets the corner of the closet ^.^ So... why not give it a go when you have a bad moment.
So that stamps was my starting point for today's project. And what better stamp to team him up with as Mr Bone Jangles ^.^

Expliciete inhoud... ouderlijk toezicht!
Ik heb altijd een zwak gehad voor die stempel en ik denk dat dat is omdat hier in huis wel CD's staan met die sticker er op. Er zitten wel een paar vloekwoorden tussen ( woeps) maar het voelt zo goed om die gewoon lekker mee te brullen.
Maar als we eerlijk zijn, laten we niet allemaal soms eens een vloekwoord ontsnappen? En om zelfs nog eerlijker te zijn... het voelt ook best goed aan om ze er soms eens ongestoord uit te gooien toch?
Ik heb zelfs ooit eens gelezen dat vloeken stress verlaagt maar ook pijn wegneemt. Wel ik heb al ondervonden dat het inderdaad helpt als ik mijn teen tegen de hoek van de kast stoot ^.^ Dus waarom zouden we eens niet vloeken als we een slecht moment hebben.
Dus die stempel werd vandaag mijn startpunt voor mijn tag. En welke set is er dan beter als Mr Bone Jangles om daarbij te gaan combineren?

Turn back the clock...?

If you could go back in time... are there things that you would change?  If anyone asks me that question I know I would immediately answer: YES!  

There are things I regret, there are things that I've let go on way to long, there are things I could have handled differently,...

Yet immediately I also ask myself the question: but what if?  What if I could go back and change things. What effect would that have on my current life?

Als je kon terug gaan in de tijd... zouden er dan dingen zijn die je zou veranderen?  Als iemand mij die vraag stelt dan weet ik dat ik meteen JA antwoord.

Er zijn dingen waar ik spijt van heb, er zijn dingen die ik veel te lang heb laten aanslepen, er zijn dingen die ik anders had kunnen aanpakken...

Maar tegelijkertijd komt ook de vraag naar boven: wat als?  Wat als ik zou terug gaan en dingen zou veranderen? Welk effect zou dat hebben op mijn huidige leven?

Als je er over nadenkt... zou jij terug gaan in de tijd en dingen veranderen?

The two sets of stamps I used to create this tag ( linked underneath) are perfect to put these thoughts down to paper. Yet they are also perfect to be used in a (bullet) journal or on a card or... I think I have to be honest and add them to my favorites list. Hmmm it's becoming a long long list that favorites one ^.^

De twee stempel sets die ik gebruikte om deze tag te maken ( onderaan vermeld) zijn gewoon perfect om deze gedachten neer te zetten op papier. Maar even goed zijn ze perfect om in een (bullet) journal of agenda te gebruiken, of op een kaart of... Ik denk dat ik maar eerlijk moet toegeven dat ik ze gewoon op mijn lijstje van favorieten ga moeten toevoegen.  Hmmm dat wordt eigenlijk best wel een lang lijstje met favorieten ^.^

Ahead of our time

Somewhere in time

Tranquility...

Once in a while, I just want to go and have a play with my materials, not intending to create a finished piece per se. Just have some relaxing time and play around and see where I get.
And today's project is the result of a play session. Now I knew what I wanted to try out but I had no idea where I would end up.  But anyway, I turned on my camera and I did end up with a tag. And the spotlight is going to the Two tone set stencil... Enjoy!

Af en toe heb ik gewoon zin om wat te freubelen, niet met de intentie om ook een echt afgewerkt project te hebben. Gewoon wat ontspannen en ik zie wel waar het heen gaat. En vandaag heb ik een tag die voortkwam uit zo een speelsessie. Ik wist wel wat ik wou proberen, maar ik had geen idee waar het me zou brengen. En gewoon omdat het kan, had ik de camera aangezet.  Startpunt zijn mijn aquarelverfjes natuurlijk en de 'Two tone' stencil van visible Image.  Veel plezier!

I think we can all agree on the fact that there is something fragile about butterflies.  And I felt like creating something soft so I automatically grabbed the entwined butterflies stencil and my Distress blending brush giving me a beautiful soft background for my card. 

Ik denk dat we het er wel allemaal over eens zijn dat er iets kwetsbaar is aan vlinders. En ik had echt zin om iets zacht te creëren dus ik nam eigenlijk zonder twijfelen de 'Entwined butterflies' stencil en mijn Distress blending borstel om een zachte achtergrond te maken voor mijn kaart. 

And then finally I took that tiny butterfly from the Wings of change set.  It has been calling me for a long time and I have it stamped but for today's project I wanted it embossed with some silver metallic embossing powder.

En toen eindelijk dat kleine vlindertje uit de 'Wings of change' stempelset genomen. Het had al zo vaak mijn aandacht getrokken, en ik heb het ook al gestempeld, maar voor het project van vandaag wou ik het geëmbossed hebben met een zilveren embossing poeder.

Taking out the words wasn't  hard, that soft background and that fragile butterfly...

Woorden zoeken was helemaal niet zo moeilijk voor die zachte achtergrond en kwetsbaar vlindertje...

Yes, bringing it all together to make a sympathy card.

En je kon het misschien al raden, het kwam inderdaad allemaal samen in een rouwkaartje.

Even though you love a brand of stamps, you always have some favorites and for me that Ink splat set is one of them for Visible Image.  And when the new release arrived I did what I always do: I took some plain copy papers and just randomly tested some things out to see what works together and what not. Because it can work out perfectly in your head, that doesn't always mean it actually does on paper ^.^
But bringing the ink splat stamp and that word transform together... it was the perfect match! So I knew I just had to go and bring them together in an art journal page.
And it just so happens to happen I had my camera rolling for you guys ^.^ Enjoy!

Ook al kan je nog zo gek zijn van een merk, je hebt altijd wel een paar favorieten en voor mij is één van die favorieten de inksplat stempel. En toen de nieuwe release hier aankwam deed ik wat ik altijd doe: gewoon wat printer papier nemen en een paar dingen snel uittesten want het mag dan nog zo'n goed idee zijn in je hoofd, dat is het niet altijd op papier.  
Maar toen ik de ink splat stempel en het woord transform samen bracht... het was echt wel de perfecte match! Dus ik wist dat ik daar gewoon een art journal pagina mee ging maken en toevallig had ik de camera aan staan toen ik hem maakte ^.^ Veel plezier met de nieuwe video!
