DNA...

Sometimes I have this instant connection with a stamp even though I can't always immediately lay my finger on it why that stamp is calling my name as hard as it is. And that fishbone stamp is one of them.  I like him, like ... a lot... so today is the day I took him out to get inked. 
And while looking through the other Visible Image sets I knew rather fast that the DNA stamp was going to join my little fish. 
Now only to decide what to do with my background... a tiny bit of color and some Japanese papers made perfect sense in my head so I got my camera out and had it rolling for you guys ^.^

Soms heb ik meteen een klik met een stempel, ook al kan ik niet altijd meteen mijn vinger leggen op waarom die nu net zo hard mijn naam roept. En de visgraat stempel is daar eentje van. Ik vidn hem super tof dus vandaag was de dag dat hij inkt zag.
En terwijl ik tussen de andere Visible Image stempels keek wist ik eigenlijk vrij snel dat de DNA stempel er gewoon bij moest.
Toen was het enkel nog beslissen wat ik met de achtergrond wou gaan doen... een beetje kleur en wat Japanse papieren klonk allemaal overduidelijk dus nam ik daarna de camera en liet hem lopen voor jullie ^.^

So many ideas going through my mind... I needed to make a male card for someone of whom I know loves skulls and turned a certain age that is ... well sometimes a bit of a knock on the head for some people.
The love for skulls wasn't heard as Visible Image has a great stamp set called Mr. Bone Jangles so I had some stamped and cut out, made a background and then I pulled out the Skull shadow stencil to make a soft card that was supposed to go on the inside...  But then I changed my mind...
So my soft background with the Skull shadow stencil became my front panel ^.^

Ik had zoveel verschillende ideeën in mijn hoofd...ik moest immers een mannelijke kaart maken voor iemand van wie ik weet dat hij wel houdt van doodshoofden en die een leeftijd werd die... soms een klopke op het hoofd is voor sommigen.
Dat hij van doodshoofden hield was niet moeilijk aangezien Visible Image een prachtige set heeft namelijk Mr. Bone Jangles. Dus stempelde ik er een paar en ik sneed ze uit, ik maakte een achtergrondje met mijn aquarelverf en dan nam ik er het Skull shadow stencil bij om een zachte achtergrond te maken die aan de binnenkant zou komen... En dan veranderde ik van idee...
De zachte achtergrond die binnenin zou komen werd mijn voorkant ^.^

And all because I did want that special number '49+1' incorporated but... I didn't want to scream it out loud so I was very happy when I found it in that tiny row of numbers  in the Elemental stamp ^.^
A home rusted piece was perfect to get it out there...

En allemaal om ik het speciale nummer van '49+1' er toch graag op wou verwerken. Ik wou het echter niet uitschreeuwen  dus ik was super blij toen ik het vond in dat kleine rijtje van cijfers in de Elemental stempel ^.^
Een zelf geroest stukje ijzer was perfect om het in de spotlight te zetten...

Not in the slightest near at the first idea I had in mind but I love how this one turned out. And I love how a tiny element of a stamp can give you whole new ideas.

Helemaal niet de kaart die ik eerst in gedachten had maar ik vind het super hoe het uiteindelijk geworden is. En helemaal super vind ik hoe één klein detail in een stempel je een volledig nieuw idee kan geven.

A male card...

In these times where everyone is working hard to get all their Christmas cards done I'm hopping in with...a male card ^.^
Now I know not every male loves skulls but the person I made this one for does, looking at the shirts he wears ^.^  But you can easily replace it with any other image, and by changing the colors and putting a butterfly down, you have a more female mixed media card ^.^

Terwijl iedereen heel hard zijn best doet om de kerstkaarten klaar te krijgen spring ik even binnen met een mannelijke kaart ^.^
Nu weet ik wel dat niet iedere man gek is van doodshoofden, maar de persoon voor wie ik deze kaart maakte is dat wel als ik kijk naar de prints op zijn T-shirts ^.^ Maar je kan natuurlijk het doodshoofd makkelijk vervangen met een andere afdruk, en als je de kleuren verandert en er een vlinder neerzet heb je meteen een vrouwelijkere mixed media kaart ^.^

He smiled...

It's no secret...I love the words Helen creates for Visible Image. Even when at first sight they are not for me, it doesn't take me long to see beyond that and I discover how to make them my own.  I'm not a lipstick girl so I could easily have moved on but just look at what you get just leaving one sentence out...
And when you go even one step further and mask off one extra letter...

Het is geen geheim... ik hou van de woorden die Helen schrijft voor Visible Image. En zelfs als je op het eerste zicht zou denken dat het niet echt een stempel voor mij is, dan duurt het niet lang voor ik verder kijk en zie hoe ik ze me helemaal eigen kan maken.  Ik ben geen lippenstift type dus ik had heel makkelijk kunnen zeggen dat ik deze stempel niet zou gebruiken.  Maar als je gewoon één zin weglaat, en zelfs nog een stapje verder en nog één extra letter weghaalt bij het stempelen...

Who says it's only girls that put on a smile even when they feel like crap...

Wie zegt dat het enkel vrouwen zijn die een glimlach opzetten terwijl ze zich eigenlijk echt rot voelen...

Music...it's a powerful thing. At least it is for me. It can lift me up in a second, but put me down with my two feet back to the ground in less than a second. It can kick my behind in gear or make me stand still and remember...

Muziek, het is een krachtig medium. Tenminste in elk geval voor mij. Het maakt me blij in een seconde maar kan me nog veel sneller terug met mijn twee voeten in de realiteit zetten. Het geeft me een schop onder mijn achterste om aan het werk te gaan, of laat me net stilstaan en herinneren...

One design five cards #3...

I needed a birthday card for a friend and this idea that I had in my mind with the new 'Somewhere in time' stamp set  was perfect for it. And after seeing the result I loved the card so much that I decided to make a new 'One design five cards' video. It had been way too long since I made one of these. So get ready because we will be inking a lot of stamps ^.^

Ik had laatst een verjaardagskaart nodig voor een vriendin en het ontwerp dat al een hele tijd in mijn hoofd spookte moest er nu toch uit. En toen ik klaar was vond ik het zo leuk geworden dat ik besloot om er een nieuwe '1 design 5 cards' video van te maken. Dat was trouwens al veel te lang geleden. Dus maak je klaar want we gaan heel wat stempels van inkt voorzien ^.^

Bister: ik lief jou...

I had a lovely time last Saturday when I was having my workshop bister at Antwerpen.  It were lovely en enthusiastic ladies who came to play and wanted to get to know bister.  I really enjoyed watching them create lovely colored papers.
Today I want to show another card I made using the bister. I think it's a typical Veerle card, tough with a little edge and a black accent ^.^

Ik had een hele leuke tijd tijdens mijn workshop bister zaterdag in Antwerpen. Ik maakte kennis met lieve en enthousiaste dames die heel graag de bister wilden ontdekken.  En ik heb er van genoten om te zien wat er allemaal op hun papier te voorschijn kwam.
Vandaag laat ik jullie graag nog even een kaartje zien dat ik maakte met de bister.  Lekker strak en ruw met een zwart accent, een Veerle kaart dus ^.^

Een "artselfie"? Dat is de uitdaging vandaag bij de  #ColourJuly van #KuretakeUK. Geen haar op mijn hoofd dat er aan denkt om mezelf op papier te kleven maar ik kan je wel een kaart laten zien die een selfie van me is.

#ColourJuly day 16...

They want to know what is up in "The Sky" today at the #colourJuly challenge over at KuretakeUK. I could have chosen to make a card with a bird but I decided to go and have me some fun making a "Veerle-card" ^.^

Ze zijn benieuwd wat jij in de lucht ziet vandaag bij de #ColourJuly uitdaging daar bij KuretakeUK. Ik kon natuurlijk voor een kaartje met vogels gaan maar ik besloot om wat te genieten en eens een echte "Veerle-kaart" te maken ^.^

Love this Deep Red stamp that is called Flying man.  And had to get some gears on this card too of course.

Deze stempel van Deep Red die Flying man heet is super. En natuurlijk moesten er een paar gears bij.

You don't need that much markers to get some color on this card. A couple Zig Clean Color Real brush markers and one Zig art and graphic marker to color in the textstamp I used to stamp on the background.

Helemaal niet zoveel nodig om deze kaart kleur te geven.  Een paar Zig Clean Color Real brush markers en één Zig art and graphic marker om mijn achtergrond tekststempel in te kleuren en af te drukken.

A dream...

Many of us have them and it's your choice if you chase them or not...

Iedereen heeft er wel een en het is jou keuze of je ze achterna gaat of niet...

So I have many of them and one of them brought me where I am now. I can't keep it for myself any longer and want to share it with you: wednesday next week I'm going to fly. Not in an airballoon, I'm taking the plane to England...

Ik heb er meerdere en eentje brengt me waar ik vandaag ben. Ik kan het niet langer voor mezelf houden en deel het graag met iedereen: volgende week woensdag ga ik vliegen. Niet in een luchtballon, ik neem het vliegtuig richting Engeland...

...to follow a training at Kuretake UK! Feeling like a kid going to a shop filled with candy :-)  And yes I'll get to know the popular Zig Clean Color Real Brushes. I already have some at home and made this card using them.  They are so nice to work with, I love the color, how they react on water, how they blend, the gradations you can get by blending with water or using the pens themselves,... One word...yummie ^.^

...om een opleiding te volgen bij Kuretake UK! Ik voel me net als een kind dat naar een snoepenwinkel gaat ^.^ En je raadt het al, ik ga ook kennis maken met de populaire Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. Ik heb er natuurlijk al een paar in huis en maakte er ook dit kaartje mee.
Ze zijn zo leuk om mee te werken, heerlijke kleuren, ik hou er van hoe ze reageren op water, hoe ze blenden, de gradaties die je krijgt in de kleuren als je blend met water of net met de markers zelf,...in één woord..yummie  ^.^

Only 3 more nights to sleep and then I'm gone. Sucking in as much information as I can and bringing it all home with me to share with you. Here on my blog, in demonstrations and in workshops ;-)

Nog drie nachtjes slapen en dan ben ik weg. Zoveel mogelijk informatie gaan opnemen als ik kan om terug mee te brengen naar huis en hier dan te delen met jullie. Op mijn blog, bij demonstraties en in workshops ;-)
