Thinking of you...

Creative time... I seem to be missing out on that lately.  I haven't been creating in weeks.  Nothing serious going on, in fact I am very busy with loads of positive things. Except it is taking over my creative time.  And I have to admit that I do miss it and really really would love for days to have 48 hours instead of 24. But it is what it is and I have to go with how it is at this time.

But that doesn't mean I can completely ignore those gorgeous new released stamps and stencils by Helen and Mark. They have been calling my name so loud for so long that I finally stepped away from my other stuff and just had a little play. Because... look at this beauty!

Tijd om creatief bezig te zijn... ik lijk er maar geen te vinden. Het is al weken geleden dat ik nog iets maakte. En daar is een goede reden voor, niets ernstig, integendeel. Ik ben de laatste weken bezig met heel veel positieve dingen alleen nemen die dus mijn 'speeltijd' even over. En ik moet toegeven dat ik het natuurlijk wel mis en het niet erg zou zijn mocht een dag 48 uren hebben in plaats van 24. Maar kijk, het is wat het is en we nemen het nu even zoals het komt.

Maar dat betekent natuurlijk niet dat ik zomaar de prachtige nieuwe release van stempels en stencils van Helen en Mark. Die zijn echt zo hard mijn naam aan het roepen geweest dat ik eindelijk mijn andere dingen even aan de kant schoof om hun wat aandacht te geven. Want... kijk naar dit prachtige stencil!

I just had to go and put some ink through that stencil. Not to much, just a soft little layer that faded out...

Dit stencil vroeg er gewoon achter om beinkt te worden. Niet te veel, gewoon een heel zacht laagje dat ik liet uitvloeien...

I repeated it on a slightly smaller square too on which I added my words and my 'focal image' as you could call it that ^.^ The beautiful heart from the 'Accessorize' set that comes with the words.

Now be honest... they all match just perfectly don't they...

Ik herhaalde het ook een tweede keer op een iets kleiner vierkant waarop ik ook mijn woorden en mijn focal image op plaatste. Het prachtige hart uit de 'Accessorize' set dat bij de nieuwe quote sets hoort.  En zeg nu zelf: hoe prachtig sluiten ze allemaal aan bij elkaar...

Kind hearted...

Lately I have been working a lot in my art journals and yes I have loads more pages that just needs to be made. But with the new release of  Visible Image their stamps, I just knew I wanted to spend some time making some cards sharing my appreciation for some people.  It's something I feel strongly about that we should do this on a regular base. Because... sometimes later will be to late.
And the new stamps ( and yes even older stamps) are just filled with words that make it so easy to make these kind of cards.
So you know me... I love my watercolors and white space so the card turned out to be a CAS ( clean and simple) card. That not only is just 'me', it also makes sure that the spotlight is on the message you want to get out to the recipient of the card.
To get started: laying down some color on my paper and then... choosing the words and the stamps I wanted to combine...

Ik ben de laatste tijd veel aan het werk geweest in mijn art journals, en ja ik heb nog heel veel dingen die ik daar in wil gaan zetten. Maar met de nieuwe release van Visible Image, heb ik voor mezelf uitgemaakt dat ik toch ook wat tijd wil vrijmaken voor het maken van kaarten waarbij ik mensen toch even wil laten weten hoe belangrijk ze wel zijn. Dit is iets waar ik toch wel waarde aan hecht en iets dat eigenlijk op een regelmatige basis zou moeten gebeuren. Want je kan wel blijven zeggen, dat doe ik later wel, maar soms komt later gewoon te laat.
En jullie kennen mij... ik ben gek van mijn aquarelverf en witruimte dus dit kaartje werd een CAS ( clean en simpel) kaartje. En dat is niet gewoon een 'Veerle' kaartje, het zorgt er ook voor dat de spotlight echt naar de boodschap gaat die je wil meegeven aan de ontvanger.
Gewoon beginnen met een klein beetje kleur op mijn achtergrond te zetten en daarna... de woorden kiezen en welke stempel daar dan bij hoort...

So ... anyone pops up in your head when you think about who needs to hear how much you really appreciate them? What is holding you back to send a card?

En... springt er iemand meteen in je gedachten als je even nadenkt over wie best wel mag horen hoeveel je hem/haar eigenlijk wel apprecieert? Wat houdt je tegen om een kaartje te sturen?

A little sprinkle...

Can't believe it? Well it's absolutely true: I've made a Christmas card in August!! Well, even more than one but today I would love to share the very first one I've made.  As soon as I saw the new release for Christmas stamps by Visible Image this design just popped in my head. I took out my watercolors because I really wanted the line of trees in black popping up against a snowy night sky.  

Kan je het geloven? Doe toch maar: ik maakte zomaar een kerstkaart in augustus. Wel eigenlijk maakte ik er wel meerdere maar vandaag laat ik jullie graag de allereerste zien die ik maakte.  Zodra ik de nieuwe stempels zag die Visible Image naar buiten bracht was dit ontwerp het eerste dat in mijn hoofd sprong. Aquarelverf in de aanslag want ik wou die rij met bomen tegen een winterse nachtelijke hemel stempelen...

And of course I wanted to add one of those beautiful Christmas sentiments and I went for the perfect sentiment to match my tiny twinkling star...

En natuurlijk wou ik één van die prachtige Kerst teksten op mijn kaart verwerken. En ik ging voor de tekst die perfect bij mijn kleine twinkelende ster pastte...

Christmas Eve

I always have so much fun in bringing stamps together that somehow belong to be together either when they are in different sets. And today it's the inksplat from the 'Organics' set and a sentiment from the 'Voices in your head' set...

Ik vind het altijd super om stempels bij elkaar te brengen die volgens mij gewoon bij elkaar horen, ook al zitten ze in een andere set. En vandaag is dat de inktvlek die in de 'Organics' set zit en een tekst uit de 'Voices in your head' set...

The inksplat has a tiny line which had me going direction of making a square using 4 prints of the splat.
So to make this card you start by measuring the size of your sentiment to know where you need your splatters to be stamped. Once those are on your paper, mask of the square in between and blend in some ink. And then you are ready to go and stamp your sentiment ^.^
But I also wanted to have some fun with my favorite color combo... red and black. Just perfect for the words and that definitely for that splatter ^.^

De inktvlek heeft een klein lijntje en dat zorgde ervoor dat ik aan een rechthoek  dacht.  
Om dit kaartje te maken start je eigenlijk met meten hoe groot je sentiment is en hoeveel plaats je dus gaat moeten open laten als je de vlekken gaat stempelen. Eens je dat hebt gedaan, mask je de rechthoek af waarbinnen je een zacht laagje inkt kan blenden. En dan ben je al klaar om je woorden te gaan stempelen.
Maar ik wou ook heel graag een kaart maken met mijn favoriete kleuren combinatie zwart en rood. Die vlek vraagt toch om rood niet ^.^

To give my splatter that tiny bit more I added some shimmer by using my Zig Wink of Stella marker...

Om mijn inktvlek net dat kleine beetje extra te geven bracht ik een klein beetje shimmer aan met mijn Zig Wink of Stella marker...

My most favorite words from visible Image? I don't have to think very hard on that... I think because there are many beautiful words ^.^ But I think I can say the words in set 'Learn to fly again' are my favorite. So today I did want to go and have a play with them.  And to start out, I needed a very soft background for my words, something that reminded me of the wind. So I took out the Fibres stencil and very softly blended some ink through it.

Mijn absolute favoriete woorden bij Visible Image? Ik denk dat ik daar niet echt aan twijfel... denk ik... want er zijn natuurlijk zoveel mooie woorden ^.^ Maar ik kan zeggen dat de woorden in de 'Learn to fly' set echt wel mijn favoriet zijn. Dus vandaag wou ik daar ook mee aan de slag. En ik wou het gaan combineren met iets dat me aan de wind deed denken dus ik nam er ook het Fibres stencil bij waar ik een heel zacht laagje inkt door blendde.

I marked where I wanted my words to go on a bigger piece of white cardstock and I could go and stamp some of the birds on the left side, and one lonely bird was placed on the right side.

Ik heb aangegeven waar ik mijn woorden verhoogd wou gaan aanbrengen zodat ik zonder problemen enkele vogels aan de linker kant van mijn kaart kon stempelen en één vogel aan de rechterkant kon stempelen.

And that one bird, I wanted him to stand out a tiny bit, not to much, so I gave him a coat using my wink of Stella brush.

En die ene vogel, die wou ik net dat beetje extra geven. Daarom kreeg hij een laagje met mijn Wink of Stella pen.

We all have some scars on our wings, and some of us actually have broken wings.  But we have to learn to fly again... we really do. And I know that sometimes that is incredible hard to learn, but I sure hope it doesn't feel like impossible to any of you.

We hebben allemaal wel onze littekens op onze vleugels, en sommigen zullen ook gebroken vleugels hebben. Maar we moeten uiteindelijk allemaal opnieuw leren vliegen... dat moeten we echt. En ik weet dat dit soms ongelofelijk moeilijk is, maar ik hoop uit de grond van mijn hart dat het voor niemand onmogelijk lijkt.

With sympathy...

I think we can all agree on the fact that there is something fragile about butterflies.  And I felt like creating something soft so I automatically grabbed the entwined butterflies stencil and my Distress blending brush giving me a beautiful soft background for my card. 

Ik denk dat we het er wel allemaal over eens zijn dat er iets kwetsbaar is aan vlinders. En ik had echt zin om iets zacht te creëren dus ik nam eigenlijk zonder twijfelen de 'Entwined butterflies' stencil en mijn Distress blending borstel om een zachte achtergrond te maken voor mijn kaart. 

And then finally I took that tiny butterfly from the Wings of change set.  It has been calling me for a long time and I have it stamped but for today's project I wanted it embossed with some silver metallic embossing powder.

En toen eindelijk dat kleine vlindertje uit de 'Wings of change' stempelset genomen. Het had al zo vaak mijn aandacht getrokken, en ik heb het ook al gestempeld, maar voor het project van vandaag wou ik het geëmbossed hebben met een zilveren embossing poeder.

Taking out the words wasn't  hard, that soft background and that fragile butterfly...

Woorden zoeken was helemaal niet zo moeilijk voor die zachte achtergrond en kwetsbaar vlindertje...

Yes, bringing it all together to make a sympathy card.

En je kon het misschien al raden, het kwam inderdaad allemaal samen in een rouwkaartje.

Shine a light...

Today I'm over at the 'Less is more' challenge blog where they challenge you to create clean and simple projects. So no layers, lots of white space and minimal embellishments.  So I think I've got that ^.^

Vandaag ben ik een guest designer op het 'Less is more' challenge blog waar je uitgedaagd wordt om Clean and simple projecten te maken. dus geen extra lagen, veel witruimte en een minimum aan embellishments.  Dat lijkt me geen probleem ^.^

Now for the theme: shine a light... so they suggested a ray of sunlight or some moonlight or...  Now who would I be not to have my own take on the 'Shine a light' right?
Oh and guess who the sponsor is this month... yes... Visible Image so twice the fun or no: triple the fun because I can play with my favorite stamps, keep my white space and have fun on laying down a little message.
Getting curious on my take on it all?  Well I have been filming it all as I am adding some texture on my stamps and I wanted to share those little tricks with you.  Have fun!

Nu voor het thema: schijn een licht op...  Dus stelden ze bijvoorbeeld wat zonnestralen of maanlicht
voor. Maar wie zou ik zijn om er niet mijn eigen draai aan te geven toch?

Beautifully wicked...

I had forgotten it... how relaxing coloring is.  I have to admit it's a pain in the neck and back but... it's so relaxing to put all those thin layers on top of each other and blending them out. 

But the new release by Visible Image has the new stampsets with the Oz characters so that asked for some coloring time.

First one on my desk was the wicked witch, who else could it be ^.^ And I had this idea for which I needed her on craft cardstock.  And then I just pulled out my plain graphite pencils.  I have to admit I don't own a lot of colored pencils ( surprise as I'm not a colorist ) I even pulled in some watercolor pencils to get some green going.

Ik was het helemaal vergeten... hoe kalmerend kleuren is. Ik moet toegeven dat het mijn nek en rug breekt maar... het is zo relaxerend om al die laagjes op elkaar te zetten en uit te blenden.
Maar de nieuwe release van Visible Image heeft ook nieuwe sets met alle figuren uit de film 'Oz' dus dat vraagt om wat kleurwerk.
De eerste die op mijn tafel belandde was de heks, wie anders ^.^ En met het idee dat ik in mijn hoofd had wou ik haar graag op kraft cardstock. En toen nam ik gewoon mijn oude vertrouwde grafiet potloden. Ik heb helemaal niet veel kleurpotloden ( surprise, ik ben geen echte kleurder) en heb er zelfs een paar aquarelpotloden bij genomen om gewoon mijn groen te kleuren.

Getting started on my main idea was burning some edges and holes. And then I wanted to add a tiny bit of golden metalfoil in some of the holes...

En daarna maar met mijn idee beginnen en dat was een randje branden en een paar gaten.  En daarna wou ik heel graag wat gouden metaalfolie in enkel gaten...

I might have to warn you, the sentiment might turn up on many other projects...

En ik denk dat ik je nu al maar waarschuw, deze tekst zou wel eens op heel wat andere projecten tevoorschijn kunnen komen...

Oz Wicked witch

Angel wings...

Only 7 weeks till Christmas so we better keep making those Christmas cards.  So I have a new card for you in my Holiday cards series. And as last week's one was a very CAS one I went for some mixed media today ^.^ Enjoy the video!

Nog 7 weken voor het kerst is dus we blijven best maar even actief kerstkaarten maken. Vandaag dus een nieuw kaartje in mijn Holiday cards series en aangezien het vorige week een hele CAS kaart was vandaag maar even de mixed media toer opgegaan ^.^ Veel plezier!

I would love to take the time to also welcome all those lovely new followers on my channel but also thank every one who takes the time to like and comment underneath the videos. It is all so heart warming and very much appreciated.  Lot's of love fro me to you!

Ik wil van deze gelegenheid ook even een warm welkom geven aan al mijn nieuwe volgers op mijn kanaal en hier op mijn blog, maar ook een dikke dank je wel aan iedereen die de tijd neemt om een like en een berichtje na te laten. Het is altijd hartverwarmend om ze te ontdekken en worden heel erg geapprecieerd. Dikke knuffel van mij voor jou ^.^

Bad days... we all have them. We can all pretend to be tough but we all have that point where we break down and a big hug is so badly needed.  

But then there is life... not everyone can just drop anything he's doing to come running and give you that instant hug you need.  That's just a fact, we would love to be able to drop everything but that's sadly enough not realistic. And sometimes that person isn't living nearby either so that's making it even harder to be there in an instant. 

Well... a good alternative is a card.  Yes we can call and send text messages or skype or... but there is something about a handmade card that gives that extra warm touch.

So here it is, my take on a card for someone that can use a little support, a card to put that little precious note inside showing you are thinking of someone, showing you care.

Een slechte dag... iedereen heeft die wel eens. We kunnen ons allemaal wel  voordoen als harde noten om te kraken maar iedereen komt wel eens op dat breekpunt waar een knuffel zo hard nodig is.

En dan is er het dagelijkse leven... niet iedereen kan gewoon alles laten vallen om naar ons te rennen en ons die knuffel te geven die je zo hard nodig hebt. Dat is gewoon een vaststaand feit, we zouden allemaal wel  willen dat we alles konden laten vallen maar dat is nu jammer genoeg niet realistisch.  En is het zelfs zo dat je te ver uit elkaar woont om snel even naar elkaar toe te gaan. Ja we kunnen bellen, en een sms sturen of skypen of.. maar er is ook zoiets als een handgemaakt kaartje dat net dat kleine tikkeltje extra warmte meedraagt. 

Hier is mijn versie van zo een kaartje dat dat kleine steuntje in de rug kan zijn, een kaartje waar je die kleine persoonlijke boodschap in kan neerpennen en waarmee je kan laten zien dat je aan iemand denkt, dat je er bent voor hem of haar.

Fact: I don't like making Christmas cards so I keep postponing in making them.
Answer: make a quick and easy card or a multiple of them each week now until Christmas
So start the countdown: 10 weeks until Christmas...

Feit: ik maak niet graag kerstkaarten en stel het dus altijd uit tot het allerlaatste moment.
Oplossing: elke week een snelle makkelijke kaart ( of een veelvoud ervan) maken tot aan Kerst.
Dus... begin het aftellen maar: nog 10 weken tot aan Kerst.

Bloom...

A couple of weeks ago you saw how I created a card using the Baby Bloom stencil from Visible Image and today I had a play with the Bloom and grow stamp set. It's the same image for the baby but I went a complete different direction.  That baby is so fragile and I wanted to make a delicate piece so I chose to have some acetate as my base.
It's hard to see but it has some stamping on it using white stazon ( as we are working on acetate).

Enkele weken geleden liet ik zien hoe ik een kaart maakte met het Baby Bloom stencil van Visible Image. Vandaag ging ik aan de slag met de Bloom and Grow stempel set. Het is dezelfde afbeelding voor de baby maar ik ging een volledige andere richting uit.  Dat baby'tje is zo fragiel dat ik een rustig en zacht project wilde maken en daarom koos ik voor wat plastiek als mijn basis. 
Het is niet makkelijk te zien maar ik stempelde met wat witte stazon hier en daar wat tekst om de plastiek toch wat zichtbaarder te maken.

The baby was stamped and heat embossed before I 've cut it out, then my flower was colored in using some watercolors.

Het baby'tje heb ik gestempeld en met heatembossing neergezet en werd daarna uitgeknipt. Mijn bloem heb ik met mijn aquarelverf ingekleurd. 

I already know what to create when a little baby comes and joines the family but it's a little bit early for that ^.^

Ik weet al wat ik zou maken mocht er een baby'tje in de familie bij komen maar laten we zeggen dat het daar toch nog even te vroeg voor is ^.^
