I'm into positive and motivational words lately. I'm sharing one every Monday on my instagram as I think it's so important to lift each other up. Do we always have to be 100% positive? No... of course not. Life isn't a fairytale every single minute. Trust me, I know, and I know there are people off far worse than what I have to deal with sometimes.
But I honestly believe that every time someone knocks you on the ground, you need to find a way to get back up on your feet again. If not tomorrow, maybe the day after. And why shouldn't we help each other with that. Why shouldn't we try to be a little positive spark in someone's dark moments? Try it, it's not that hard at all...
Ik ben de laatste tijd wel bezig met positieve woorden. Elke maandag deel ik op mijn instagram een quote omdat ik denk dat het best wel belangrijk is dat we elkaar wat positief proberen ondersteunen. Moet alles altijd 100% positief te zijn? Neen, natuurlijk niet. Het leven is echt niet altijd rozengeur en maneschijn. Geloof me, ik weet dat zelf heel goed, en ik weet ook dat er mensen zijn die het nog veel harder hebben dan ik op sommige momenten. Maar ik geloof echt dat, elke keer dat het leven je op de grond gooit, je wel een manier moet vinden op terug recht te gaan staan. Blijven liggen is geen optie, dat helpt je niet vooruit. En lukt het morgen niet, ook goed maar misschien dan wel overmorgen. En waarom zouden we elkaar hierbij niet helpen? Waarom zouden we niet kunnen proberen om een klein lichtpuntje te zijn voor iemand die dat lichtpuntje nodig heeft? Probeer het eens, het is echt niet zo moeilijk als het lijkt...
On today's project, I'm again took one of the words out of the 'Look forward with hope' set. I absolutely love this set, and so many other words Visible Image has. But this set in particular stole my heart. I've used it in previous projects if you want to see more inspiration...
Voor de tag van vandaag gebruikte ik opnieuw de set 'Look forward with hope'. Ik ben helemaal weg van deze set. Ook van de andere woorden die Visible Image heeft, maar deze set heeft een bijzonder plaatsje op dit moment. Ik gebruikte hem ook in andere projecten mocht je nog op zoek zijn naar andere inspiratie...

I think we can all agree on the fact that there is something fragile about butterflies. And I felt like creating something soft so I automatically grabbed the entwined butterflies stencil and my Distress blending brush giving me a beautiful soft background for my card.
Ik denk dat we het er wel allemaal over eens zijn dat er iets kwetsbaar is aan vlinders. En ik had echt zin om iets zacht te creëren dus ik nam eigenlijk zonder twijfelen de 'Entwined butterflies' stencil en mijn Distress blending borstel om een zachte achtergrond te maken voor mijn kaart.
And then finally I took that tiny butterfly from the Wings of change set. It has been calling me for a long time and I have it stamped but for today's project I wanted it embossed with some silver metallic embossing powder.
En toen eindelijk dat kleine vlindertje uit de 'Wings of change' stempelset genomen. Het had al zo vaak mijn aandacht getrokken, en ik heb het ook al gestempeld, maar voor het project van vandaag wou ik het geëmbossed hebben met een zilveren embossing poeder.

That beautiful flower... it was just calling me to color it in and have a play with it. And I just knew what I wanted to do with it. Well I have to admit I have a LOT of ideas for it ^.^ but today I wanted to add it to a little mixed media project.
Die prachtige bloem... die riep gewoon om ingekleurd te worden en ermee aan de slag te gaan. En ik wist meteen wat ik er mee wou doen. Ach, ik moet toegeven dat ik eigenlijk VEEL ideetjes heb ^.^ maar vandaag wou ik het graag aan een mixed media project toevoegen.
So I went and had some fun on a bottle with pastes, gaze and a lot of layers of paint.
And this bottle has 4 sides so I wanted to add something at the back too. So I took out all the new stamp sets and had my brain just go and look for what I wanted to put together. And then I got to this...

Dus nam ik er een fles bij en ging aan de slag met pasta's, verband en heel veel laagjes van verf. En deze fles heeft 4 zijdes dus ik wou ook graag aan de achterkant iets gaan doen. Dus nam ik alle nieuwe stempelsets erbij en liet mijn hoofd gewoon zijn gang gaan om dingen bij elkaar te zoeken. Om uit te komen bij dit... Zie wat anderen niet zien...
Strength... Kracht...
That word strength is so beautiful. Such a small word yet so strong... you'll see that one come back ^.^ Who am I kidding... they will all be used on many projects as they are just gorgeous ^.^

Ik ben helemaal weg van het woordje 'strength - sterkte'. Het is zo klein toch zo sterk... je ziet dat ongetwijfeld nog terug komen. And of course one of the sets was on my table for this new video. No surprise that is were the butterflies? Well I can tell you that the 'Creative chaos' set already has seen some ink too ^.^

En natuurlijk is een van de nieuwe sets al op mijn tafel beland voor deze nieuwe video. Zal waarschijnlijk geen verrassing zijn dat het de vlinderset was. Maar ik kan al verklappen dat de 'Creative Chaos' ook al inkt heeft gezien ^.^ Het woord metamorfose... dat eindigt waarschijnlijk wel vaker op een project en het is gewoon perfect voor de vlinders toch? Veel plezier met de video!

If you could turn back time... how would today look like? Would it be the same, or would you change things in the past that makes today could look completely different. But be careful... it's not only the bad things that change... your changes might just have its influence on the good things you have today too. Als je de klok kon terug draaien... hoe zou je dag vandaag er dan uit zien? Net hetzelfde als nu, of zou je dingen in je verleden aanpassen waardoor vandaag er helemaal anders zou uitzien? Voorzichtig... het zijn niet enkel de slechte dingen die veranderen, je wijzigingen hebben onrechtstreeks misschien wel een invloed op alle goede dingen in je leven ook.

This beautiful butterfly and those thoughtful words are Visible Image stamps. And the coloring is a combination of Derwent Inktense and my beloved watercolors.

Eindelijk kan ik mijn eerste project als lid van het Butterfly Squad creative team laten zien ^.^ En het is waarschijnlijk geen verrassing welke stempels en welk stencil ik koos voor dit eerste project. Ik vertel er alles over op het blog van France, dus als jullie meer willen lezen of zien neem dan zeker een kijkje.

Now of course I had my take on it and I went ahead not making one but two projects. And even though they are very similar they ended up completely different.

Natuurlijk deed ik er mijn eigen ding mee en maakte niet één maar meteen twee projecten. En ook al lijken ze wat opbouw betreft heel sterk op elkaar, toch zijn het twee totaal verschillende projecten. En ik had opnieuw de camera aan voor jullie... Veel plezier ^.^

A little card today...very CAS: just a light wash of color and a beautiful Visible Image stamp. That's all you need to make that special card that makes a big difference for someone who needs that little shoulder to lean on.
Vandaag laat ik een kaartje zien...heel eenvoudig: enkel een lichte wash van kleur en een prachtige tekststempel van Visible Image. Meer heb je niet nodig om een speciaal kaartje te maken waarmee je iemand een riem onder het hart kan steken.
And of course I chose to add a little extra accent. I used the butterflies in the background and added that little shiny...black....shiny butterfly.
En natuurlijk bracht ik een klein accentje aan. Ik gebruikte de vlinderstempels in de achtergrond en bracht een klein blinkend...zwart...blinkend vlindertje aan.

Just parts...that's all I saw when making this project. Or look at it as making more out of your materials. You already know I immediately fell for all the beautiful words in the Family definition stamps, and how I wanted to be able to use them on their own too. Now when seeing the Fibres stencil... yep I was doing the same thing. Looking for parts I could isolate and use on it's own.
Deeltjes... dat was het enige wat ik zag toen ik dit project maakte. Of je kan het ook bekijken als het maximum uit je materialen halen. Ik liet jullie al weten dat ik meteen voor de mooie woorden in de Family definition stempels viel, en hoe ik ze allemaal apart wou gaan gebruiken. Mocht je die post gemist hebben dan kan je hem samen met de VIDEO HIER terugvinden. En toen ik het Fibres stencil zag...yep ik deed net hetzelfde. Meteen aan het kijken of er delen waren die ik kon isoleren om ze op zich te gebruiken.
I've kept it white but layed down some pearlescent watercolors on my structurepaste to give it a soft finish. A shame it wasn't that easy to catch in on my photograph.
And then I chose some words that absolutely speak of my sister...
Ik hield mijn struktuur pasta wit maar kleurde het toch wat bij met zilveren aquarelverf om het een zachte afwerking te geven. Spijtig genoeg kreeg ik dat niet helemaal goed op de foto. En dan koos ik een paar woorden die echt echt passen bij mijn zus...

It has been a while since I shared something from my Breathe art
journal. Sometimes I feel the need to create in it more than other moments.
Today I do want to share a video I made some months ago but didn't share
here yet.
It's a page that has so many hidden messages what makes it one of my
most meaningful pages in my journal. I hope you enjoy the video...
Het is al een hele tijd geleden dat ik nog een pagina uit mijn Breathe journal deelde. Soms heb ik meer nood om daarin te werken dan op andere momenten.
Vandaag deel ik graag een video die ik een hele tijd geleden maakte maar hier nog niet deelde. Het is een pagina dat zoveel verschillende elementen heeft met betekenis voor mij waardoor het een van de meest waardevolle pagina's is. Ik hoop dat jullie de video leuk vinden...
If you wonder how I got these rusted metals... just natural rust and
it's as easy as can be.
Als
je benieuwd bent hoe ik de geroeste metalen rondelen kreeg... gewoon natuurlijk
roest en het is zo makkelijk te krijgen.
To start I try to put some dents into my metal. Not very easy but I bang
on it using a hammer, lay them down on some rough stones and scratch them by
moving them around using my foot.
Then it's time to give them a bath... and a second one that is made of
pure white vinegar. You can dilute it down to half water-half vinegar if you
want to reduce the smell. When they have been in there for a couple of
hours or overnight you can take them out. You'll see them turn black, other
metals don't change colour, that depends on the metal.
While they are still wet throw some regular table salt
on top of them. As little or as much as you want. The more you put on, the
better your metals will be "eaten" and rust.
Om
te beginnen probeer ik altijd wat krassen en deuken in mijn metaal aan te
brengen. Niet altijd even makkelijk maar ik sla er op met een hamer of leg ze
op ruwe stenen en kras ze erover heen met mijn voet.
Dan
even afwassen en daarna gaan ze in een bad met puur witte wijnazijn. Je kan het
voor de helft verdunnen met wat water als je de geur wat wil dempen. Laat hen
er een paar uren of tijdens de nacht in liggen voor je ze er uit haalt. Je zal
zien dat sommigen verkleurd zijn, niet elk metaal reageert hetzelfde.
Nu
ze nog nat zijn gooi je er gewoon tafelzout over. Je kan kiezen hoeveel zout je
er op gooit. Hoe meer zout, hoe meer je metaal wordt "aangevreten" en
hoe meer roest je krijgt.
Give it another couple of hours or leave it overnight
again. And there it is…beautiful rust. If you wipe your metals
however you’ll see you can still remove a lot of the rust. So either you seal
it with a varnish or you just go and repeat these two steps again. Don’t be
scared, the vinegar will take away all the rust but when you give it a second
batch of salt it returns. You can go and repeat these steps as much as you want
until you are happy with the results. I only do these steps twice and finish
off by removing some of the salt I have put down in the end. Then I lay
them outside a couple of days when it’s raining. And you’ll see how beautifully
the rusting really gets.
Laat het
zout er opnieuw een paar uren of een nachtje op liggen. En daar is het: prachtig
roest. Als je echter over je metaal wrijft zal je zien dat het roest voor een
groot deel weg kan gehaald worden. Dus je kan er voor kiezen om het nu gewoon
te beschermen met een laagje vernis uit een spuitbus bijvoorbeeld of je kan de
stappen gewoon even herhalen. Niet schrikken als je ziet dat je roest verdwijnt
als je het in het azijnbad legt. Als je er later opnieuw zout op gooit komt het
gewoon terug. Je kan deze stappen nog vaker herhalen maar ik stop na twee
beurten. Daarna kies ik er echter voor om mijn metaal nog even in de regen
buiten te leggen met deze geroeste metalen als gevolg.
All that is left now is creating ^.^ If you try it out...let me know on any of my social media, I would love to see what you create.
Het enige wat je nu nog moet doen is creatief aan de slag gaan ^.^ Als je het uitprobeert, geef dan zeker eens een gil op mijn sociale media, ik zie heel graag wat jullie allemaal maken.
I needed a birthday card for a friend and this idea that I had in my mind with the new 'Somewhere in time' stamp set was perfect for it. And after seeing the result I loved the card so much that I decided to make a new 'One design five cards' video. It had been way too long since I made one of these. So get ready because we will be inking a lot of stamps ^.^
Ik had laatst een verjaardagskaart nodig voor een vriendin en het ontwerp dat al een hele tijd in mijn hoofd spookte moest er nu toch uit. En toen ik klaar was vond ik het zo leuk geworden dat ik besloot om er een nieuwe '1 design 5 cards' video van te maken. Dat was trouwens al veel te lang geleden. Dus maak je klaar want we gaan heel wat stempels van inkt voorzien ^.^
I love this splatter as it is a perfect stamp to put something in the spotlight. And just by changing the stamps you get cards for all different occasions ^.^ Oh and it fits just right into the challenge that is going on over at the Visible Image facebook group now too: 'A splash of colour'.
