Don't...

I've always hold off on working in an actual bound art journal.  I love working with layers and metal wire and texture and above all I don't want the color on one page to run through and contaminate another page.  I also loved the size my tags gave me so why would I do what I do in a journal knowing it would hold me back to do some things.
But yet, I always loved the idea of having it in an actual journal and I decided to give it a try (I shared my first page a while ago right HERE)
Today... I made my second page in it and yes... it became very clear that I really need to start thinking and working different when working in my art journal, even though I have loose papers.  I ran into a little problem that for me was kind of a big problem as I am a bit of a perfectionist ^.^
But all ended well as you can see in the video, I managed to fix it without any trouble.

Ik ben het altijd uit de weg gegaan om in een echt gebonden boek te werken. Ik hou er immers van om met lagen, ijzerdraad en textuur te werken en bovenal wil ik niet dat een kleur van één pagina doorloopt naar de andere en daar vlekken nalaat. Ik hou ook enorm van de maat van mijn tags dus waarom zou ik in een echt gebonden art journal gaan werken als ik weet dat het mij zou tegenhouden om bepaalde dingen te gaan doen.
En toch, bleef ik ergens wel zin hebben om alles mooi ingebonden te hebben in een echt boek dus... ben ik toch overstag gegaan ( ik deelde mijn eerste pagina al met jullie HIER)
En vandaag  maakte ik mijn tweede pagina en ja hoor... het werd heel duidelijk dat ik op een andere manier moet gaan denken en werken in mijn art journal, ook al heb ik nog steeds losse vellen papier. Ik had een klein probleempje dat voor mij eigenlijk best even een schrik momentje was aangezien ik nu eenmaal een pietje precies ben ^.^
Het is allemaal gewoon netjes opgelost geraakt, zoals je kan zien in de video.

I've been missing for a while but I'm back and I'm starting off with an art journal page in my handmade art journal where I had to use this beautiful stamp from the new release by Visible Image: Guardian angel.

Time...

How little can make you happy when creating?  One layer, two... nine? I think it's already known that I'm not the girl of many layers. I'm also not the girl of loads of color or bright colors.  So yes, today I'm sharing yet another piece with loads of white, greys and blacks and just one pop of color. But Visible Image their stamps and stencils are strong enough to hold as little layers or colors and still stand out above loads of other stamps I have here at home.

So what did I put on my table?  Yep, last week Mr Bone Jangles and today this little brother came out to play. Well his little brothers and sisters I think ^.^

Met hoe weinig kan je al gelukkig zijn bij het creeëren. Met één laag, met twee,... met negen? Ik denk dat het wel veilig is om te stellen dat ik niet iemand ben die voor de negen lagen gaat. Ik ben ook niet degene die veel kleur gebruikt of voor de felle kleuren gaat. Dus ja, ik laat vandaag terug een pagina zien met veel wit, grijs en zwart en één kleur om een accent aan te brengen.  Maar Visible Image hun stempels en stencils hebben vaak niet meer nodig dan die paar laagjes en dat klein beetje kleur om nog steeds boven veel stempels uit te steken die ik hier thuis heb.

Dus wat had ik op mijn tafel liggen? Yep, vorige week Mr. Bone Jangles en vandaag kwam zijn kleine broer spelen. Wel oke, zijn kleine broers en zussen denk ik ^.^

And then some greys, black and that one pop of red that I love so much in combination with my greys and blacks ^.^ And of course words, the perfect words for my image <3 

En dan natuurlijk wat grijs, zwart en die ene hint rood die ik zo graag combineer bij mijn favorieten kleuren. En woorden, de perfecte woorden voor mijn project <3 

How it was made?  

You start by masking of the shape of a heart. Not hard at all to make your mask as you can just go and trace the heart using the stencil. 

Then I layed down a layer of grey watercolor... can't go without my watercolors can I ^.^

Then remove the mask and lay down your stencil to brush on a thin layer of grey which will have your stencil appear in the background.  Gradually built up on the black the closer you get to your heart.

You then color in your heart in red... and finish it off with some glossy accents before you put down the words...

Hoe het gemaakt werd?
Je begint met het masken van een hart. En een mask maken is niet zo moeilijk met het stencil, gewoon een hart omlijnen en uitsnijden.
Daarna legde ik een laag grijze aquarelverf neer... die horen er bij toch?
Daarna haal je het masker weg en leg je het stencil neer om een dun laagje grijs door je stencil te blenden zodat je stencil naar voren komt. Hoe dichter je bij je hart komt, hoe meer zwart je neerlegt.
En daarna kleur je je hart in met rood, om het af te werken met een laagje glossy accents, en daarna heb je enkel nog de woorden nodig...

DNA...

Sometimes I have this instant connection with a stamp even though I can't always immediately lay my finger on it why that stamp is calling my name as hard as it is. And that fishbone stamp is one of them.  I like him, like ... a lot... so today is the day I took him out to get inked. 
And while looking through the other Visible Image sets I knew rather fast that the DNA stamp was going to join my little fish. 
Now only to decide what to do with my background... a tiny bit of color and some Japanese papers made perfect sense in my head so I got my camera out and had it rolling for you guys ^.^

Soms heb ik meteen een klik met een stempel, ook al kan ik niet altijd meteen mijn vinger leggen op waarom die nu net zo hard mijn naam roept. En de visgraat stempel is daar eentje van. Ik vidn hem super tof dus vandaag was de dag dat hij inkt zag.
En terwijl ik tussen de andere Visible Image stempels keek wist ik eigenlijk vrij snel dat de DNA stempel er gewoon bij moest.
Toen was het enkel nog beslissen wat ik met de achtergrond wou gaan doen... een beetje kleur en wat Japanse papieren klonk allemaal overduidelijk dus nam ik daarna de camera en liet hem lopen voor jullie ^.^

I can't explain it but something inside of me needed to put that tree on the hand. And then it stopped in my mind. It's the strangest feeling of needing to see those two together but it just feels right, relaxed...
And yet it didn't feel finished so I held it in my head and I've let it grow... until today.
I found words to match and that tiny leave to express some extra things in my head.  And as happy as I am with the finished page, I feel the need to make another page with only that hand and the tree...
So I will, but first I want to share with you how I created this page and I can do so by sharing the video tutorial I made. Enjoy!

Ik kan het niet uitleggen maar iets van binnen had het nodig om de boom bovenop de arm te plaatsen. En toen werd het stil in mijn hoofd. Het was een gek gevoel maar ik moest die twee gewoon samen zien en het voelde gewoon goed en relaxed...
En toch voelde het niet volledig dus ik hield het in gedachten en liet het groeien... tot vandaag.
Ik vond de juiste woorden en het kleine blaadje die het verhaal af maakten in mijn hoofd. En hoe blij ik ook ben met de pagina van vandaag, toch wil ik nog een nieuwe pagina maken met enkel de boom en de arm samen...
Dus dat ga ik ook doen, maar eerst laat ik zien hoe ik deze pagina maake en dat kan heel makkelijk door de video tutorial te laten zien die ik maakte.  Veel plezier.

Sometimes you can't stop that feeling that is growing inside, and you just have to give in.  I really wanted to go and have some fun with crackle paste and... that one fine but oh so beautiful line from the 'Sparkle in the rain set'. So I just did it, I've cut it off and had a play with it...
And I'm taking you all along in my video, have fun!

Soms kan je het gewoon niet tegen houden en moet je er aan toegeven.  Ik wou echt heel graag opnieuw eens met crackle pasta aan de slag en met dat fijne maar oh zo mooie lijntje uit de 'Sparkle in the rain' set. Dus ik heb het gewoon gedaan: ik heb het lijntje eraf geknipt zodat ik er heel makkelijk mee kon werken. En ik had de camera terug aan, veel plezier!

Ahead of our time

It's time...

When is it time to start a new chapter in your life? How long do you allow yourself or force yourself  to keep trying before starting a new one?  Not an easy question and it's one that will differ for each of us. The only right answer is: as long as necessary to be able to look back later and not feeling guilty for not having fought hard enough.
Closing...does that mean you have to forget about that chapter? Sometimes that is indeed what you need to do, to be able to move on and have a happy life. But don't forget that chapter is part of the story that brought you to the place you are right now and made you as strong as you are now. So maybe, sometimes it's just better to put it behind glass as a reminder of how strong you have become.

Wanneer is het tijd om een nieuw hoofdstuk te beginnen in je leven? Hoe lang laat je jezelf toe of verplicht je jezelf om te blijven proberen voor je een nieuw hoofdstuk begint? Geen makkelijke vraag en het is er eentje die voor iedereen anders zal zijn. Het enige antwoord is: zo lang als nodig zodat je later kan terugkijken en je jezelf niet schuldig hoeft te voelen dat je niet hard genoeg geprobeerd hebt.
Afsluiten...wil dit zeggen dat je het oude hoofdstuk gewoon moet gaan vergeten? Soms is dat inderdaad wat je moet doen zodat je verder kan gaan met je leven. Maar vergeet niet dat ook dat hoofdstuk je gebracht heeft op de plaats waar je nu bent. Dus misschien is het wel beter om het gewoon achter glas te zetten als een herinnering aan hoe je zo sterk bent geworden.

Be tough...

Sometimes you get an idea when you see a new set of stamps but for God knows what reason you just don't get it done immediately. But it sticks in your mind and this project was one of those. I knew what I wanted to make but for some reason I just kept making other projects first... until today ^.^
That circle stamps from the 'Shape it up' set needed to be pushed in drying texture paste!
I know it's not all that clear but you get a 3D circle with all the lines pushed down into it, I love it.
I used the Ranger texture paste so no problem to take out my watercolors to add some color ^.^
And when my circle was ready...it was just getting my ideas onto my paper.

Soms krijg je meteen een idee als je een nieuwe set stempels ziet maar voor God weet welke reden maak je het niet meteen.  Maar het blijft in je hoofd zitten en dit project was er zo eentje.  Ik wist wat ik wilde maken maar om een of andere reden maakte ik eerst andere projecten... tot vandaag ^.^
De cirkel uit de 'Shape it up' set moest gewoon in drogende textuur pasta geduwd worden!
Ik weet dat het moeilijk te zien is op de foto maar je krijgt dus eigenlijk een 3D cirkel met de lijnen erin geduwd als textuur en het ziet er super uit in het echt.
Ik gebruikte de Ranger textuur pasta dus het was super makkelijk om er met mijn aquarelverf was kleur op te zetten.
En eens mijn cirkel klaar was... kon ik aan de slag om mijn hoofd leeg te maken op mijn papier.

En je kent me alvast wel al goed genoeg om te weten dat ik ook altijd een woord gebruik om mijn gedachten van mijn project te bundelen.

Heerlijk is het als je je hoofd leeg kan maken en gewoon kan creëren wat je nodig hebt...

Shape it up

I while ago I was tidying stuff up and there they were: my twinkling H2O's.  So I decided to keep them on my table and create with them again.
It wasn't hard to choose some stamps for this project, as the soft twinkle and the colors I have here immediately bring me to the beautiful dragonfly From Visible Image. I did however decide to use another set of words for today's project instead of the words that are in the 'Live in the moment set...
I had my camera rolling again so have fun!

Toen ik even terug wat aan het opruimen was kreeg ik ze terug in mijn handen: mijn Twinkling H2O's. Dus besloot ik dat het al weer veel te lang geleden was en ze nu maar eens opnieuw te gaan gebruiken.
Het was niet zo moeilijk om een stempel te vinden die ik wou gebruiken, aangezien de zachte glitter en de kleuren die ik hier heb me direct bij de libelle bracht. Ik besloot echter om een andere tekst te gaan gebruiken dan degene die in de set zit....
Ik heb alles op camera dus er staat een nieuwe tutorial op mijn youtube kanaal. Veel plezier!

Live in the moment

Where dreams take you

Love yourself...

What's in a fingerprint?  When you look at it...there's nothing much to see. It are just some lines and you leave them behind because you have dirt on your fingers.
But when you take a bit more time to not just look but also think... there is more behind those lines. You see, they are unique for each and every one of us. They are you and that is a strong message when you put it down onto paper. Everyone can copy your signature, everyone can try to look like you inside and out. But no one can put your fingerprint onto paper. And you yourself...can't try to change that fingerprint. Well you could always cut new lines into them or burn them off... but I don't feel like doing that on purpose ^.^  And I don't feel like changing those lines...

Wat is een vinger print? Als je er even naar kijkt dan is er eigenlijk niet veel te zien. Het zijn gewoon wat lijnen en je laat ze achter omdat er wat vuil aan je vingers hangt.
Maar als je even de tijd neemt om niet alleen te kijken maar ook na te denken... dan kom je er op uit dat er meer zit achter die lijnen.  Die lijnen zijn namelijk uniek voor elk van ons. Ze stellen eigenlijk jou voor en dat is een sterke boodschap als je die neerzet op papier. Iedereen kan je handtekening leren nabootsen, en iedereen kan met de huidige technieken op jou lijken, uiterlijk maar ook innerlijk kan men je nabootsen.  Maar niemand kan jou vinger print op papier neerzetten. En jij zelf... kan die vinger print niet veranderen. Nou wel, je zou er altijd nieuwe lijnen in kunnen snijden of ze eraf branden... maar daar heb ik niet echt veel zin in om dat expres te gaan doen  ^.^  En ik wil die lijnen ook helemaal niet veranderen...
