It's okay to not be okay...

Mixed media on a card...why not?  And even though I made this project in the shape of a card it's also a possibility to turn it into an art journal page.
Either way you choose to have a go at, be it a little reminder for yourself, or for it to be a bit positive reinforcement for anyone who needs it, have a go as these words should be out there.
It is okay to not be okay. We are humans, no heroes. Well sometimes we are a hero but I think it's safe to say we are no heroes 24/7 and no one is, not even our heroes.

Mixed media op een kaartje...waarom niet?  En ook al maakte ik dit project als een kaartje, het kan best perfect ook een art journal pagina worden.
Maakt niet uit hoe je het wil uitwerken, als een herinnering voor jezelf, of als een hart onder de riem voor iemand anders die het nodig heeft, ik zou zeggen, ga je gang want deze woorden mogen echt wel in de spotlight gezet worden. Het is oké om niet oké te zijn. We zijn tenslotte gewoon mensen, geen helden. Nou soms zijn we allemaal wel eens een held, maar ik denk dat het veilig is om te zeggen dat we echt niet elk uur op elke dag een held zijn, zelfs onze helden niet.

If I could turn back time... 

I'd find you sooner and love you longer

Today I have this CAS tag but one with a special meaning to me.  When you look at the 'Have I told you set'... what is the first thing you think off? I guess you are thinking lovers right now ^.^
But for me today... the words I've put on the tag have a whole other meaning.  You know, I lost a beautiful friend. In a minimal time frame she was taken away from so many people who loved her for being her beautiful self leaving us speechless, not knowing how that could ever have happened.
And it is at times like that, that you realize... if only. If I could turn back time...


Vandaag heb ik een CAS tag maar wel eentje met een speciale lading voor mij persoonlijk.  Als je naar de stempel set 'Have I told you' kijkt... wat is het eerste waar je aan denkt? En ik denk dat ik wel kan raden dat dat Valentijn of verliefde mensen zijn ^.^
Maar voor mij hebben de woorden die ik gebruikte wel een hele andere mening vandaag. Ik verloor een prachtvriendin. In een mum van tijd werd ze weg gerukt van zo veel mensen die haar zo graag hadden omwille van de prachtige persoon die ze was. En we bleven gewoon sprakeloos achter, niet wetende hoe dit ooit zomaar had kunnen gebeuren.
Het is in tijden zoals dit dat je jezelf realiseert.. als ik kon.  Als ik de tijd kon terug draaien...

Now she will never be forgotten, that just wouldn't be possible. But I did feel the need to just lay down some of those feelings. And I did it in my own way, using these particular stamps and a hint of pink.

Ze zal nooit vergeten worden, dat is gewoon onmogelijk. Maar ik wou wel een deel van die gevoelens neerzetten en ik deed dat op mijn eigen manier, met deze specifieke stempels en een roze tint.

I've been missing for a while but I'm back and I'm starting off with an art journal page in my handmade art journal where I had to use this beautiful stamp from the new release by Visible Image: Guardian angel.

Even though you love a brand of stamps, you always have some favorites and for me that Ink splat set is one of them for Visible Image.  And when the new release arrived I did what I always do: I took some plain copy papers and just randomly tested some things out to see what works together and what not. Because it can work out perfectly in your head, that doesn't always mean it actually does on paper ^.^
But bringing the ink splat stamp and that word transform together... it was the perfect match! So I knew I just had to go and bring them together in an art journal page.
And it just so happens to happen I had my camera rolling for you guys ^.^ Enjoy!

Ook al kan je nog zo gek zijn van een merk, je hebt altijd wel een paar favorieten en voor mij is één van die favorieten de inksplat stempel. En toen de nieuwe release hier aankwam deed ik wat ik altijd doe: gewoon wat printer papier nemen en een paar dingen snel uittesten want het mag dan nog zo'n goed idee zijn in je hoofd, dat is het niet altijd op papier.  
Maar toen ik de ink splat stempel en het woord transform samen bracht... het was echt wel de perfecte match! Dus ik wist dat ik daar gewoon een art journal pagina mee ging maken en toevallig had ik de camera aan staan toen ik hem maakte ^.^ Veel plezier met de nieuwe video!

No regrets...

You all know I love words on my projects and today is not different. They even get their own place in the spotlight on today's project.  Visible Image has these beautiful sets with strong words perfect for cards, art journaling and I myself used them on a tag today. I had my own twist on them as I felt like they needed to be torn apart and then joined together again.  Strange? Not in my head :-)
Well I had the camera rolling for you so enjoy the video ^.^

Het is geen geheim dat ik graag woorden verwerk op mijn projecten en dat is vandaag niet anders.  Ze krijgen zelfs hun eigen plaatsje in de spotlights. Visible Image heeft prachtige sets met woorden die perfect zijn voor kaarten, artjournaling of op een tag zoals ik vandaag doe. Ik gaf er mijn eigen draai aan aangezien ik vond dat ze uit elkaar moesten gehaald worden en daarna toch terug samen moesten gebracht worden. Vreemd?  Niet in mijn hoofd ^.^
Ik had de camera terug opgezet dus veel plezier met een nieuwe tutorial op mijn videokanaal ^.^

Only 7 weeks till Christmas so we better keep making those Christmas cards.  So I have a new card for you in my Holiday cards series. And as last week's one was a very CAS one I went for some mixed media today ^.^ Enjoy the video!

Nog 7 weken voor het kerst is dus we blijven best maar even actief kerstkaarten maken. Vandaag dus een nieuw kaartje in mijn Holiday cards series en aangezien het vorige week een hele CAS kaart was vandaag maar even de mixed media toer opgegaan ^.^ Veel plezier!

Herinner je je deze video nog? En herinner je je hoe ik twee achtergronden maakte met de overschot aan Twinkling H2O's?

I always have some of those backgrounds laying around and they are perfect for those moments when you just want to have a play or you want to get some things out of your mind.
So for these two tags I decided I wanted to have a play with some of the fabulous words that Visible Image has. There are so many of them and I love just going through all of them and then find the perfect ones to be put together and which fit my mind set.

Ik heb altijd wel een paar van die achtergronden liggen die perfect zijn voor momenten waarop je gewoon even snel wil spelen of als je iets uit je hoofd wil krijgen.
Voor deze twee tags wou ik graag gewoon aan de slag met een paar van de prachtige woorden die de Visible Image sets hebben. Er zijn er zoveel en ik vind het altijd zalig om er door te gaan en dan de perfecte woorden samen te brengen die neerzetten wat er in mijn hoofd speelt.

I while ago I was tidying stuff up and there they were: my twinkling H2O's.  So I decided to keep them on my table and create with them again.
It wasn't hard to choose some stamps for this project, as the soft twinkle and the colors I have here immediately bring me to the beautiful dragonfly From Visible Image. I did however decide to use another set of words for today's project instead of the words that are in the 'Live in the moment set...
I had my camera rolling again so have fun!

Toen ik even terug wat aan het opruimen was kreeg ik ze terug in mijn handen: mijn Twinkling H2O's. Dus besloot ik dat het al weer veel te lang geleden was en ze nu maar eens opnieuw te gaan gebruiken.
Het was niet zo moeilijk om een stempel te vinden die ik wou gebruiken, aangezien de zachte glitter en de kleuren die ik hier heb me direct bij de libelle bracht. Ik besloot echter om een andere tekst te gaan gebruiken dan degene die in de set zit....
Ik heb alles op camera dus er staat een nieuwe tutorial op mijn youtube kanaal. Veel plezier!

Live in the moment

A while ago I had a demonstration with the Gansai Tambi Starry watercolor set and while making some examples, there was no doubt I would go and not use the Sparkle in the rain set.  It was perfect to show how shiny these watercolors are.
As usual, this set has a beautiful quote and looking at it I even saw another way of using it. I decided that I wanted to go for: 'Let the rain sparkle'
Of course I had to have...  sparkly rain. And on top of that I had my words and my background shining as much as possible.

Een hele tijd terug had ik een demonstratie met de Gansai Tambi Starry aquarelverfjes. En bij het maken van enkele voorbeelden was er geen twijfel mogelijk dat ik de Sparkle in the rain stempelset van Visible Image zou gebruiken. Het is perfect om te laten zien hoe glanzend deze aquarel welis.
Zoals altijd heeft deze Visible Image set een prachtige quote en toen ik er naar keek zag ik ook een andere manier om hem te gebruiken. Ik besloot te gaan voor 'Let the rain sparkle' - laat de regen glanzen.
En natuurlijk had ik dan glinsterende regen nodig. En mijn woorden en achtergrond moesten natuurlijk ook zo glinsterend mogelijk zijn.

Why I went for those words? Because I really feel like you should try to turn every negative thing that happens into something positive. You can't always stop bad things happening to you, but you can try to see the positive things that are coming from it. They might not be visible right away, and sometimes it are only very little things. But they are there and will become clear one day.

Waarom ik voor deze woorden koos?  Omdat ik er van overtuigd ben dat je moet proberen om de negatieve dingen die op jou pad komen om te draaien in iets positief. Je kan de negatieve dingen niet altijd stoppen, maar je kan proberen om er positieve dingen uit te halen. Het is misschien niet meteen zichtbaar hoe iets negatief ook positief kan zijn, en soms zijn het maar hele kleine dingen. Maar ze zijn er wel en vroeg of laat worden ze zichtbaar.

How I created that fine mist of rain?  Take a closer look at the stamp... you see that one fine line at the right of the stamp? You can ink it up very easily without having to cut into the stamp. Just push it down on the edge of your inkpad and you are ready to go ^.^

Misschien vraag je jezelf wel af hoe ik die hele fijne regen maakte? Kijk even heel goed naar de regen stempel... zie je dat ene lijntje rechts? Dat kan je heel makkelijk beinkten door het aan de rand van je inktkussen te zetten ^.^

I had some Visible Image fun and to be more precise with this lovely stencil ^.^

Ik heb opnieuw wat Visible Image inspiratie en vandaag staat dit stencil in de schijnwerper ^.^

Now of course I had my take on it and I went ahead not making one but two projects. And even though they are very similar they ended up completely different.
I had the camera rolling for you guys...have fun ^.^

Natuurlijk deed ik er mijn eigen ding mee en maakte niet één maar meteen twee projecten. En ook al lijken ze wat opbouw betreft heel sterk op elkaar, toch zijn het twee totaal verschillende projecten.
En ik had opnieuw de camera aan voor jullie... Veel plezier ^.^

Time Tunnel

 Somewhere in time

Life can be tough

Protector...

I love bringing elements together that tell a story, that tell a part of MY story. And I know not every story is obvious for everyone, but it doesn't have to. A lot of times I see people are trying to copy someone's project because they think they should create on the same level as someone else because they love what they see.  And it's ok to love what you see and try to get a hang of those techniques so you can use them yourself. But I hope everybody knows that it's alright to just stay yourself and create what you want or need to create. That you can tell your story just as beautiful as anyone else because it is put down with your love and it is you.

Ik hou er van om elementen samen te brengen die een verhaal hebben, die een deel van MIJN verhaal vertellen. En ik weet dat niet elk verhaal even duidelijk is voor iedereen, maar dat hoeft ook niet. Heel vaak zie ik echter mensen die proberen om iets na te maken omdat ze het mooi vinden en er van uit gaan dat zij op net hetzelfde niveau moeten presteren. En tuurlijk is het niet erg dat je valt voor een project en de technieken onder de knie probeert te krijgen zodat je zelf ook aan de slag kan. Alleen hoop ik dat men nooit vergeet dat er niets mis is met jezelf blijven en met het maken van projecten die jij nodig hebt om te maken. Er is niets mis mee met jezelf blijven en je eigen verhaal vertellen want jij bent uniek en als je jou verhaal neerzet met liefde dan is het even mooi als dat van eender wie.

I think this project is an obvious part of my story. My two biggest angels protecting my 3 golden treasures... 

Ik denk dat dit project een heel duidelijk deel van mijn verhaal weergeeft. Mijn twee meest geliefde engels die mijn drie gouden schatten beschermen...

You have got to love the versatility of the Visible Image stamps and how they give you the possibility to create so many different styles of projects. I went for using parts of sets to create my project ( sets shown below) but take a look over at the Visible Image blog to see how bold you can go if you want to.

En dan moet het eerlijk gezegd dat de stempels van Visible Image super zijn omdat ze door hun veelzijdigheid de kans geven om zoveel verschillende stijlen van projecten te maken. Ik gebruikte enkel delen van sets (hieronder opgesomd) om dit rustige projekt te maken. Maar als je graag iets kleurrijker uit de hoek wil komen, ga dan zeker eens een kijkje nemen op het Visible Image blog.

1 stamp set, 5 Christmas labels...

So...Christmas is coming... OMG Christmas is coming!  

Somewhere a long long time ago I challenged myself to go and make one Christmas card a month. One simple plain card a month and...I made two so far ( start the blushing).
I have to be honest... I don't like the cold winters, I don't like snow, and although I do love Christmas and the family time it brings, I don't like making the Christmas cards either.  So just like any other year, I think I'll get in trouble when it comes in sending out my cards in time. Or just maybe, when I start right now, maybe I'll be able to end the year without the stress?
So I need: perseverance, a knock on my head and a kick in the but and some good stamps that make creating easy.  And guess what ^.^ I have this one set from Visible Image that got me into making 5 gift tags.
Just one set...and 5 gift tags at the end of the video ^.^

Dus...kerst komt eraan... OMG kerst komt eraan!
Helemaal in het begin van het jaar daagde ik mezelf uit om één kerstkaart te maken per maand. Eén simpel kaartje per maand en...ik maakte er dit jaar al twee ( gelukkig zien jullie me nu niet blozen ^.^)  Ik moet gewoon eerlijk zijn: ik haat de koude winters, ik hou niet van sneeuw, en ook al vind ik kerst zelf heerlijk en al helemaal omdat dat gezelligheid met de familie betekent, ik hou ook niet van kerstkaarten maken. Dus net als de andere jaren geraak ik strakjes in de problemen om mijn kaarten op tijd verstuurd te krijgen. Of als ik er nu meteen aan begin, lukt het me dan toch om aan die stress te ontsnappen?
Dus wat heb ik nodig: volharding, een tik tegen mijn hoofd en een shot onder mijn kont en een paar stempels die het gewoon makkelijk maken om kaarten te maken.  En raad eens ^.^ yep: ik heb een set van Visible Image die me meteen 5 kerst labels uit mijn vingers liet glijden. 
Eén enkele set... en 5 labels aan het einde van de video ^.^

Just parts...that's all I saw when making this project. Or look at it as making more out of your materials.  You already know I immediately fell for all the beautiful words in the Family definition stamps, and how I wanted to be able to use them on their own too. If you would have missed out that project and the VIDEO tutorial on how to cut up your stamps then take a look HERE)
Now when seeing the Fibres stencil... yep I was doing the same thing. Looking for parts I could isolate and use on it's own.

Deeltjes... dat was het enige wat ik zag toen ik dit project maakte. Of je kan het ook bekijken als het maximum uit je materialen halen. Ik liet jullie al weten dat ik meteen voor de mooie woorden in de Family definition stempels viel, en hoe ik ze allemaal apart wou gaan gebruiken. Mocht je die post gemist hebben dan kan je hem samen met de VIDEO HIER terugvinden.
En toen ik het Fibres stencil zag...yep ik deed net hetzelfde. Meteen aan het kijken of er delen waren die ik kon isoleren om ze op zich te gebruiken.

I've kept it white but layed down some pearlescent watercolors on my structurepaste to give it a soft finish.  A shame it wasn't that easy to catch in on my photograph.
And then I chose  some words that absolutely speak of my sister...

Ik hield mijn struktuur pasta wit maar kleurde het toch wat bij met zilveren aquarelverf om het een zachte afwerking te geven. Spijtig genoeg kreeg ik dat niet helemaal goed op de foto.
En dan koos ik een paar woorden die echt echt passen bij mijn zus...

Cutting up clear stamps...

When I saw the new released Visible Image 'Family definition' stamps my head went over the top. All those beautiful words just waiting to be used on their own too. So this immediately popped in my head: would I be able to cut them up so stamping just one word became easier? Guess what... ( and I have it in video for you ^.^)

Toen ik de 'Family definition' stempels zag die Visible Image uitbracht werd ik zo enthousiast. Al die mooie woorden die ik gewoon ook helemaal op zich wou gaan stempelen. Dus sprong deze vraag meteen in mijn hoofd: zou ik ze in stukken kunnen snijden zodat stempelen van één enkel woord makkelijker werd?  Raad eens... ( en ik heb het gefilmd voor jullie ^.^) 

Not less than 6 Family definition stamps: Mother - Father - Sister - Brother- Daughter and Son
That means a lot of beautiful words to play with  now they are all cut up ^.^

Er zijn maar liefst zes familie definities: Moeder - Vader - Zus - Broer - Dochter en Zoon. 
Dat zijn een hele hoop mooie woorden om mee aan de slag te gaan nu ze allemaal versneden zijn ^.^

Now in this video I didn't show how I made the background and there's a reason for that. I had this happy accident happening when I started out this project ^.^

In de video laat ik niet zien hoe ik mijn achtergrond maak en daar is een simpele verklaring voor. Dit gebeurde er toevallig toen ik begon met het maken van het originele project ^.^
